harris is tied for the lead in rushing for the griz, and has a better ypc than ostmo, who he is tied with. he is seventh on the receiving list, with 11, and first for running backs. baer is the one a bunch of you thought was not a good choice for defensive coordinator, for a variety of reasons, including age. but his defense is playing pretty good, as did his previous defenses.

not much talk about these two on here, despite their productive seasons, so i started a thread about them. and to really start, i must ask, why do most of you seem to think ostmo and knight are better backs? it hasn't looked like that to me during games.

That’s all I have to say about the defense.

When your defense is on the field all game, you're going to get tired and allow points. Maybe if there wasn't any fall off from the 1st to 4th stringers... our defense is great. One of the best in the country. Our offense, is one of the worst. We need an offense that can complement our defense. We need an offense that can have long successful drives. The downfall of our defense is 100% due to the downfall of our offense. Our offense is shit. We have a great stable of rbs and they are barely utilized.

If your offense turns the ball over 3-4 times and has a bunch of 3 n outs, your defense is going to have a bad time

I just don’t agree, sorry. Outside of the Idaho game, TOP has been a non issue. But progressively, like clockwork, our D has given up successively more points EACH game. That is NOT a good trend, no matter the cause.

I think Baer’s defenses are very good overall, the one chink in the armor though is the defensive backfield. I would recommend more situational replacements on long and obvious passing plays. Baers defensive front and
Lb’s are damn good but they need some help though from the offense and the dbs.

These stats are a little misleading when you put them like that. Not all of our points have been given up on defense. For example we have had 2 special teams safeties, including one in the Idaho game. That would make for 28 points given up in 42 or so minutes of play. The Indiana State game saw only 7 points given up on defense and 7 points given up on special teams (Blocked Punt/Field Goal returned for a TD). That one touchdown in particular was a coaching error in which the players had no play call effectively making our defense useless and prone to a easy score. PSU game saw another safety on special teams that means we only gave up 14 points on offense. That is 11 points given up by special teams and 11 less given up by the defense. Many of these points also came in garbage time such as one of PSU touchdowns and 2 of Idaho State's. So while we may be giving up progressively more points each game our defense is not deteriorating as fast or bad as you make it out to be.

Part of the reason the defense was on the field the whole game was due to the lack of offense, turnovers and special teams disasters, but part of it was also that the defense wasn’t getting stops and got worked over by the Idaho offense. Credit where it’s due, Idahos Oline won the battle with our Dline and their young QB diced our defense up, chewing 42 minutes of the clock along the way. Also credit Idahos offensive coordinator, who put together an offense that cracked the code to our defense in year one of his tenure.

This. Man, our special teams unit is the worst one I've seen under Bobby.
