Haley’s game ball

I just read Craig Haley’s second-round playoff review and it jumps out that in all 8 game reviews he gave the game ball to the winning team - as expected, except in our game. In our game he gushed all over Eric Barriere giving him the game ball. Now I agree Barriere has great stats for his 6 seasons in the FCS, but come on man, Eastern was crushed in the game and since when does the blown out team get the game ball. No mention of our ST, or Defense? Does Haley have some sort of issue with the Griz?

The Griz also gave the game ball to Eric B, He earned it with his fumble and pick six that led to and clinched a Griz win.

can't find the article, can't find the link? anyone help?
I believe that the short answer is yes, Haley became offended by the thousands of Griz fans challenging his opinions (ex. JMU 2008)

The irony is that while there are more "national" writers assigned to fcs football, the coverage and content is markedly worse than it was 15 or even 20 years ago.

In that respect, it's much like the fcs in general.

I have no problem with it. We play and win more with team effort then individual play. I bet it’s a struggle for coaches to submit only one name on offense, defense and special teams each week for Player of the Week.

Griz were the better team. But I have no problem sending out one the best players in the history of the conference with that honor. He is just a great player and seems like a great kid.

I agree.

Craig Haley does indeed have a dislike of the Griz. He blocked me on twitter because I repeatedly called him out for it. I never use foul language, called him names, nothing really, just called him out for his bias on a number of occasions and he blocked me. It’s no surprise he doesn’t give Griz credit when due.

He’s kind of a sensitive Sally. He blocked me too when I pointed out that Dante Olson should be on his list of top LBs in FCS in an article he had pre-season. All Dante did after that was win the Buchanan so, yea.

I sooooo miss Tony Moss. As well as being a great writer, no one will ever approach his FCS/IAA knowledge

And he could handle a little criticism.

Boy - I leave EGriz for a couple of hrs and somebody beats me to the right answer.
EB3 had a great game except for the weird fumble/lateral. The int was tipped I believe. There were a couple bombs that were on the $ and dropped by receivers. And he was hurt for most the 2nd half
But...
The Griz had a complete team effort. Including the 12th man.
Teams win games. Individuals win awards

Rule of thumb: Haley wrote it, then don’t read it. Publicity and readership is what he needs. Don’t give it to him. He is very biased, frequently off base and he can’t take criticism.

Yes, he is a stud, but he also threw at least two more picks that our defenders dropped. Just wanted to put the "dropped bombs" in perspective. I don't think he deserved a game ball, even with his big numbers, which were inflated somewhat by garbage time plays. I think the Griz special teams deserved it. We had a short field most of the night.

I think Haley was the guy who said the UM-Cheney game was the one to watch. He had that right. I don't read the aftermath.

Just stop reading his stuff who cares what Haley thinks or his stupid game ball or predictions. Same with Sam Herder or really another "journalist". They have zero impact on the actual game and to be honest I think they intentionally do things like this to get a reaction from griz fans especially those on Egriz.

Hey, this is how the guy makes a living. Cut him some slack.

Seriously, though, Haley seems to have better contacts around the FCS world than anybody. You don't have to agree (or disagree, for that matter) with his interpretations (opinions), but he definitely has information you can't easily get otherwise.

I really miss Tony Moss, Brad Daugherty, and the FCS coverage at the old Sportsnetwork website.

Yep. Those guys operated on a shoestring budget and still did a better job covering the fcs than what we get today.

I still read all of Haley’s stuff. He’s definitely a CAA guy, but knows the full breadth of the FCS. I kind of like when we picks against us to be honest.
