Gwen Florio

A lot of attention has been directed towards Gwen Florio, and for good reason as evidenced by her latest writings, "One physician, a paid expert witness for the defense, reviewed the counseling and medical records from UM’s Curry Health Center of the woman who says Johnson raped her on Feb. 4, 2012. Nothing in those records supported the PTSD diagnosis of one of the four people who treated her there, Dr. William Stratford testified." Although a factual statement, it insinuates that he is some kind of paid goon. But, Gwen is an employee of the Missoulian and every article she writes is approved by the editorial staff before publication. It is the Missoulian that is divisive and trying to muckrake the community. Florio is only a tool...
I agree with everything you said, especially the last part.

If you want to make your disatisfaction known, make it to Missoulian advertisers. Walk into their place of business, tell them you won't be doing business with them, and why.

That's how you get a newspaper's attention.

Yes - I would like to see Bwahlberg and every other business owner on this board to do just that.... my guess is B spends 5 digits or more per year on the Missoulian....

...the apartment/house for rent classified ad...
...an haz been paying the missoulianz billz...
...since the beginning of the universtiy...
...they owe their soul to the school...

Speaking of mirrors...you might want to find one. It's quite apparent that you have an actual problem.

Not me personally, my company does though - however that's not my decision to do so.

So.... you have no decision making capability as head of "The Walhberg Team".... for Christ sake man you have a link to the Missoulian on your friggen website!! that shows "pure disgust" for that rag!! :thumb:

I think you should show your disdain and march into your Brokers office and demand that NONE of YOUR listings be advertised in the Missoulian ever again... anything short of that is pure hypocrisy!

But lets be honest here... this story has certainly increased the circulation of the Missoulian thus every advertiser has benefited... including yourself.. your very livelihood depends on circulation of that "rag".... Just own up to it dude...

I don't get what your angle is here. I disagree with her as a reporter but I don't want the Missoulian shut down. As much as I dislike it at times its a part of my business and it's the main source of news in our town. I respect most all of their reporters over there in fact.

Stop complaining about her and stop your missoulian subscribtion

I did

This is complete crap. Sherry Devlin just looks the other way.

Oh and the comment about advertisers and telling them why your not going to be a customer of theirs is great. You can also do like what I did last April, call them and tell them your cancelling your subscription (mine of 15 yrs) because of the crap they spew regarding the University of Montana, their football team and a particular member of the team being used as a scapegoat for their own "secret" agenda.

Gwen Florio is the reason this city, and state, are so polarized about this case. She's the reason for the divide in this town, and she's the reason comments like that have been posted. Her reporting of this story, and convicting Johnson in the press LONG before this trial even started, are the reason people say the things to her that they do. I've never seen Missoula so divided on something (at least, since Broadway went on a diet).. and it's because of her shoddy journalism and Sherry Devlin's looking the other way while Gwen runs roughshod in the press. It's irresponsible journalism. There's a reason there's a Gwen Florio parody Twitter acct (that the Missoulian tried to have banned).. and it's not because it's the most sincere form of flattery. I don't agree with the comment the poster above made, and should be removed (if I can find it), however, that doesn't make Gwen's crusade right either. We've known that Gwen and Sherry are reading this board, it's been posted before after they threatened eGriz then subsequently posted an article in the newspaper saying what a bunch of horrible, neanderthal creatures we are. Anyways, to hell with them, this site probably gets more page hits in a year than their site does.

What a bunch of crap. While Gwen's reporting is reprehensible at best, she's not the reason people are polarized. People are polarized about this case because they: a) are misogynistic pigs that think rape can only occur if the woman is terrorized, beaten, held at gunpoint, laying on her back in the missionary position and can post anonymously about it.... or b) they disagree with those neanderthal creatures that post idiotic comments like that. At least the Missoulian nailed that one and now the rest of the world gets to see it. If you guys were smart, you'd delete all of these idiotic threads so they can't forever be linked to the rest of the non-neanderthal world, or you'd start moderating them before they got out of hand and people could actually have a civil discussion. There are some very good posts on these threads, opinionated or not. Unfortunately it's not the good posts that are going to be what eGriz is remembered for.

    ...oh wait, that wasn't a joke?

I am most certainly as liberal as any one in Missoula and loathe censorship or calls for it to be used. And, as I have posted here previously, I am opposed to the practice of "shooting the messenger". That being said, I have to say that I read the Missoulian regularly, along with other Mt. newspapers, and the bias this reporter has shown, and her foolish, quasi adolescent mentions of "the fellas" on Egriz are not the qualities expected of a professional reporter. The Missoulian would be doing the city, state, and the rest of the interested parties a great service if they moved her "reporting" to the editorial page and labeled it 'OPINION"...She has tried, and partially succeeded in making herself a great part of the story. This might sell newspapers but not to me.

I don't know Gwen Florio, but the coverage of the trial these past couple of weeks has seemed to be accurate and balanced. Pretty straight-forward trial coverage. My guess is that a lot of folks in Missoula would hate whomever was writing these stories. She is just the reporter, folks.

Kahuna--have you been keeping up with the twitter threads of the trial? Missoulian's twittering was shades different than the other reporters. Also, FG's articles during the trial left out A LOT of key facts. These are just some of the problems. Step it up Big Kahuna.

Ms. Florio's obvious bias and clear agendas were set forth and clearly established LONG before this case went to trial. Actually they were set forth long before JJ was ever charged.

Keila Szpaller is 100x better of a journalist than Gwen.. night and day different in articles they write.

One would think you'd be used to that style of reporting, what with listening to Rachel Maddow on MSNBC all the time like you do. 8-) ;)

I keed, I keed....

Gwen still doesn't know the difference between Beau and Jordy. This is at the bottom of the article from the Missoulian website stating Jordy's innocence.

Her first article on the acquittal could not help but mention Beau Donaldson:
