gustufson had better be...

It seems to me the Griz are now a team without an identity on offense. Are they a spread option Oregon type offense? They were with TM at QB (kinda sorta) but now they are running a spread with a pro set drop back qb without any vertical threat at all. I don't know how to describe his offense other than an offense without an identity or maybe just ineffective would better describe it. We need to pick a path and go with it. Dabbling with a little of this and a little of that just won't get it done. As for me, now that Pflu is gone I would prefer that we just scrapped the spread option and went with a more traditional pro set I formation offense and that certainly fits the guys we have at QB, especially with BG from Billings entering the mix next year. yes I'm frustrated and a little drunk right now but that is my take.

I loved Pflu's offense, and thought it was going to become one of, if not the best offense in the Big Sky.

But now that he's gone, and won't be coming back, we need stop trying it. Go to a more traditional spread offense, or even some more Bobby Ball-esque system. Anything is better than this hodgepodge of shit we have now. It's 2010 all over again.

Well said..even drunk. My bb coach always said indecision = ineffectivness. Pick an offense and stick with it. After ND a lot of us were screaming for TM to take a seat and SSH to start. Now it is the opposite. I can't wait for spring ball!

Wish I was still drunk Hammer. I thought of sneaking out since my wife fell asleep and trying to go find Alpha and drink till I puke..but my wife hid all the keys...smart girl!

I wanted to scream everytime the Griz ran the read option play, the QB simply wasn't able to run it. He was a fish out of water. I'd put that on the coaches, they failed to give the QB a game plan he could win with.

we are on the verge of being a so, so team in the big sky until we take care of the qb position....

I think we are past being on the verge of being a so-so team in the BSC. We are a so-so team, did we end up tied with UNC for seventh place or something like that?

Actually the Griz finished behind UNC

Delaney needs to retire NOW!

Exactamundo!!

If we are stuck with this coaching staff then god please let them learn and switch away from the spread. SSH was tossing passes high and low. He looked like he had concrete feet yesterday the way he was moving around.
We have a huge offensive line. Let's go to a pro set with Counts and Canada in the back field. Hopefully BG is the QB he is touted to be. SSH could serve as a good back up or mop up duty.

How does everyone feel about that outside option, that play probably cost us 2 games this season and that still ran it yesterday and it is a play the SSH cannot run!

I like that idea.

I would think a good head coach would have saw that in the film room and told his OC there is no reason to EVER run that play(if ssh is playing)...With SSH playing that should have been scrapped and never have been an option. There was a few times when shay kept adn if he had any speed it could have been solid yardage but he was drug down after 2 yards....hard for him to succeed in this offence, but his throwing was inconsistant from the get go, so running wasnt the only issue

Pflu installed the spread offense but it's success was clearly JJ as the qb. TM may be able to run it but that eliminates the passing offense. SSH is not effective in the spread and I doubt BG will be either. We saw what happened in Pfu's first year when he tried the spread with the wrong players and this year has been a repeat. The lesson is really pretty simple. If you don't have a mobile qb then don't run the spread. Delaney just kept after it and after it. Are all Butte guys this stubborn or did he learn it from Pflu a few years earlier?

i really believe it would be difficult for ssh to compete for any position on the griz football roster,,until or unless his foot speed improves, tight end is out as well imo...we need better players than him for the griz roster...

We had a better chance of beating the cats with SSH at the helm than we did with McKinney. No way McKinney completes the pass to Hardy that got us to the 6 yard line. Am I the only one who actually saw McKinney come up 3 yards short on an 8 yard pass against North Dakota that got him yanked. Am I the only one who saw our receivers get rocked due to high passes from McKinney that left them out to dry. Is SSH going to be a great quarterback? I don't know, but he was certainly more servicable than TM. This brings me to my biggest complaint. As the Montana Grizzlies, shouldn't we have better options at quarterback if our number 1 goes down? How do we end up with a roster of 4 quarterbacks that are not starting material? It baffles me. And don't talk to me about AB. The quarterback who doesn't play is always the most popular guy on the team. If AB comes in next year and is the the guy, I will admit it, but he obviously didn't play well enough to win playing time this year. And the time he did, he appearantly thought he knew better than the coaches and changed the play.

You obviously have not seen AB in the fall scrimmages, or watched him in practice. He is clearly the best of the three at passing the football. Most of the players know it too.
