Gunnar Brekke Gatorade POY

I still believe the 2012 Griz were a QB away from playing this Saturday. Brekke should know that as an informed football player.

I don't see why he would consider Carroll, he's above that level. And the same can almost be said for Colorado St. What would a player get playing for a team that lost to a Big Sky opponent?

As far as MSU and UM, I congratulate Bozeman State on their recent success, but I still believe form is temporary and class is permanent. The decision really should still be pretty straightforward.

You guys certainly have class down pat over here. And some of you genuinely wonder why Brekke might decommit, regardless of where he ends up.

Actually, I would bet quite a bit of money that if Brekke decommits, it will have about ZERO to do with what gets said by some idiots on a message board, or how Griz fans talk about Cat fans and vice versa. I would be willing to bet that it will have EVERYTHING to do with how sees himself as a football player, how he feels about the current state of the actual FOOTBALL program at Montana, you know, the coaches and the players, and NOT the fans who have nothing to do with that side of it, as well as where he feels he has the best chance to succeed. Pretty sure the CLASS of a few anonymous internet posters won't weigh into his decision much. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe all he cares about is what some fans he'll never meet in person have to say and how they act. But somehow I doubt it.

i agree with the basis of this post. i'll add that his education goals might also play a tiny role in where he takes his talents. as surprising as that might be to some on this board..... :o

The pathetic part of it is what msu coaches are saying to Brekke. Touting one's own school is one thing, but lying about things at UM they know NOTHING about is pretty BS. msu coaches are telling Brekke that UM is going to have major NCAA sanctions. Ok scat fan, tell me how doing that is OK.

Bush league if true, but im doubtful msu is saying that. Where u getting your info?

I highly doubt Ash would allow that.

I've heard that same rumor around the Helena crowd, but I don't buy it.

Sources... good question. There is a difference from an assistant coach telling Brekke the obvious, "who knows what sanctions the NCAA will drop on UM". To a high school recruit telling his buddies this and them spinning it into something much bigger than it is.

I do think it's dirty pool if MSU were passing rumors on this subject. But, on the other hand, they would be foolish not to at least let their recruits (and parents) know that MSU is not under an NCAA (or department of justice, or department of education) investigation.

Whatever makes you sleep at night. You need to look at your own team. Your coaches have had this technique down to a T for years.

I guess if it is true that Ash thinks he needs a recruiting advantage by lying about issues at other schools then whatever. Secondly if msu is in fact doing this and no sanctions occur they may have to answer a few questions themselves. Remember one of the NCAA's big things is to make sure schools don't engage in activities that give them any kind of recruiting advantage.

Perhaps UM coaches should tell prospective recruits that likelyhood of being murdered by another student athlete is lower at UM than msu. After all they would be stating a fact.

Brekke has told our coaches what the msu coaches are telling him. Do you think our coaches aren't keeping in contact with recruits?

Name ONE coach that ever said msu is facing majpr NCAA sanctions! The fact is Montana kids want to come to UM because they actually like to compete for championships. Oh yeah, you had a better record THIS year, let's examine the last 25 dipwad.

I am sure that most schools are using the "Possible sanctions" line if recruiting the same kids as UM....and as of now, it is not an untrue statement.

There is a large distinction between saying "possible" versus "sure" sanctions coming down. Funny how the scat fans now think their coaches, team, community are pristine. Please look at the DL prison roster scat fans if you continue to or start to think this way.

You will be under investigation for storming the field after a playioff game.

Obviously they are keeping in contact with their recruits. In fact, I believe Mick was in Helena meeting with Gunnar last Monday, and then Gunnar visited MSU Tuesday or Wednesday.

What I don't believe is that "msu coaches are telling Brekke that UM is going to have major NCAA sanctions"....I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Either way, this is a 17-18 year old kid who is making a major decision that could affect the rest of his professional career. Let's not lose sight that this is much bigger than winning football games.

Good luck to Gunnar, I hope he makes the best decision for him...whether it be UM, MSU, or somewhere else.

You don't have to believe it, but I can tell you the coaches at UM are not making it up. If you know Brekke's, ask the parents, they can confirm it.

The whiny bitch hath graced us again!
I never said your coaches were talking about sanctions. I can go on all day about Pflu and co. and their recruiting tactics. Nothing will come of this just like nothing came of that. Keep digging for more bs to make you feel better about your sorry program and your even sorrier ass.

I'll say this. Over on bcn there are no griz fans badmouthing the cats as they make a playoff run yet cats are forever over here spewing. I'll admit we have a difficult year but to equate that to a sorry program is a bit out of line CatFan 22. Go enjoy the success of your program and quit lying about ours.
