Come on, I can not believe that some of you old dudes don't know the answer to the first one, at least! I'll wait another day to see if anyone gets these, then reveal the answers.

The second player was: Bill Hickerson

I also heard from Bruce Wallwork that Byron Lovell, who played on that same team, died in the past few years.
 
OK, heres a quiz that might help get more recent fans to GRIZ football thinking.

He was born in Missoula and grew up in Omaha. Played full back for the GRIZ, helping to open holes for one of our coaches. Very involved in the GSA.
 
O.K. Griz fans....see if this Cat fan can stump the Faithful:
He was an offensive lineman AND also the teams Punter....to my knowledge the only D-1 player ever to successfully pull off this amazing feat.

Dallas Neil if you consider a tight-end an offensive lineman.
 
I don't know if my answer is correct, but I'll post another question just in case:

He's the only offensive player to ever win the Golden Helmet Award (hardest hitter). Who is he? (Don't google it, cheater!)
 
Sorry about the delay All Weather Fan.....I don't have a clue as to who won the Golden Helmet award ....and your answer to my question...Dallas Neil....is a good one but not the guy I had in mind....Neil was a heck of an athlete though!!!! This guy played offensive tackle.....the quarterback was a guy by the name of Gary Berding(???)

Gary Berding was a QB from Cincinnati, Ohio who started a couple of years for the Griz. He helped the Griz develop a Cincinnati connection for a couple of years which resulted in the Griz 10 players from the Cincinnati area. In fact, the Missoulian had a huge picture on the front of the sports section of the 10 of them standing in football gear. I remember only one of their names, a QB named Randy Christophel. They all got homesick for Ohio, and only 1 or 2 of the stayed around to play for the Griz.

Wait, is Herb White the answer to Teton's question or mine? This is so confusing! If it's the answer to mine, it's wrong, sorry, I was looking for an offensive player. And when I said "sorry," it was supposed to sound like Alex Trebek.
 
Herb White is not the answer to my question, either. Growler is on the right path however as this player was recruited out of the State of Ohio just like the QB Berding was!!!! Speaking of Berding....I saw him play in Great Falls back when the Griz & Cats would take turns playing one home game in Memorial Stadium.....Berding was fast and quick!!! His pitch to the running back on the option would often go 15-25 yards.....over the charging CB and LB's heads! That's how the option was run those days...and I think it's coming back.....but the QB and running back have to really be in sync!!!!
