Interesting perspective...

Gubrud does seem to give them the best chance to win this year. Hennessey would be a good fit as well, but he's not at fast as Gubrud. West is not a starter, and should probably never have been. If Adams hadn't left, West would have never been a starter aside from injuries. He's a good kid, but doesn't seem to have the mental make up to be a starting QB.

You guys were pretty high on West originally right?

Considering Baldwins track record with Qb's...we have nothing to worry about...he's coached Kitna and Reilly at CWU, and Meyer, Nichols, Mitchell and Adams at EWU...we will be just fine regardless of who starts.

I think everyone was confident in West last year, but not too high. He was essentially the only true option early on after VA announced he was leaving just before spring ball.

What are your thoughts on Eastern's lines this year? As someone else reiterated, you guys got beasted on up front consistently last season.

Our offensive line was solid last year but our defensive line was terrible.

We should be much better on D this year as we started a couple true freshman D lineman last year who will have a full off season under them now and we brought in Cal Poly's D line coach and my guess is he will be much more aggressive than we've been in years past.

Our O line will be a work in progress. We lost basically all of our starting o line. The new line will consist of younger players who have started at some point, but this will be the biggest area of concern this year. The good thing is, and I'm biased, but Eastern has one of the best O line coaches in the FCS in Aaron Best and he will do what he does here. Eastern has a new offensive scheme this year, which will be interesting and should help the younger o line

Eastern always cranks out great OLines. I would think, though, that there will be some growing pains this year, particularly early-on.

Yes, this is a certainty..they will be good by the end of the year, but early on could be ugly, especially with the teams we play.

Yeah that opening stretch is brutal.

And... I keep hearing from you guys that your O Line "will be much improved" because they are all going to be miraculously bigger, faster, and stronger. Hint - just because they all put on fifty pounds of fat in the off season doesn't mean they'l be better. Same players.

And yet they still managed to blow through msu's DLine like it was a set of these.

The only point pg has ever had is on his head.

"too bad theyve been mostly embarassment as of late."

A 6-5 season and all of a sudden they're an embarrassment? Surprised Hennessey is not getting the nod. His performance at Oregon last year (especially where he was in the endzone and called an audible like a pro to score a touch down) sticks out in my mind. With EWU's new O-line they'll need a system that lets a QB run more. The WSU game will not be kind given many of them will have their first collegiate start.

57-16 is pretty much "an embarrassment."

Unless the eags o line and entire defense make SIGNIFICANT improvement, their QB is irrelevant
^^ THIS!! ^^ Their entire O line graduated. The Griz D Line is gonna chew them up. I'm still betting on a 7 game losing season come October for the Eggs.
*Eags

Really?

Absolutely, and should Baldwin leave, he'd be the front runner for head coach. He's coached a lot of all american's in his time at EWU, and Eastern has always had a good/great o line when Best has coached. He's hands down one of the best at the FCS level...
