1. “Pumped,” he said. “It’s the best stadium in the country. We love going on the road together, it’s just us vs. everybody. We love coming back here, having the best fans hollering and it’s shaking in there. Can’t wait.”
2. "“I can speak for the offense at least, I think everything is really starting to click right now,” Montana center AJ Forbes said. “I think we’re diving into what we want our identity to be. I think that’s been a catalyst for what we’ve been doing so far.”
"“When you see a guy that runs as hard as he does, he’s not afraid of contact, he doesn’t run out of bounds, he looks for the extra yards, having a guy like that running behind you, it makes you want to block for him a little bit harder,” Forbes said. “Super thankful for what he’s been able to do since he’s gotten here. It’s cool to see him produce the way I feel like he probably saw himself produce.”
3. "They now own a turnover differential of plus-eight, with 16 takeaways and eight giveaways."
4. "QB Clifton McDowell hasn’t been picked off in 84 pass attempts while completing 60.7% of his passes for 681 yards and five TDs. He faces a UNC team that has the Big Sky’s worst pass defense (303.7 yards allowed per game) and most passing TDs allowed (17)."
5. "Sirmon is completing 58.8% of his pass attempts for 1,312 yards with eight touchdown compared to seven interceptions."
6. "“The reason why Idaho couldn’t run the ball, and I think that kid was the leading rusher in the Big Sky, was Alex (Gubner) was dominant,” Hauck said. “His position doesn’t show up on the stat sheet all the time, but he was dominant in that game in shutting down the run game. It was because of him and then the swarm around him they couldn’t run the ball.”
7. "UM has become much more consistent on third downs over the past three games. The Griz have converted 48.9% (22 of 45) of their third downs in that stretch after picking up just 37.7% (20 of 53) over their first four games. They bottomed out four games ago at 16.7% (2 of 12)."
8. "UM is 25 of 48 (52.1%) on third downs when McDowell has the ball in his hands. He’s 20-of-31 passing (64.5%) for 245 yards and 16 first downs picked up on third downs. He also has 17 rushes for 50 yards on third downs — 13 runs for 77 yards gained and nine first downs picked up, along with four sacks for negative-27 yards.
“I’m super proud of Clif and what he’s been able to do since he’s taken the starting job,” Forbes said. “He obviously adds a dynamic element with his running ability, but he’s improved week over week as a passer. Watching him carry the ball, he’s a guy that you want to block for. I think everybody’s loving him as the quarterback.”
9. "“We’re playing to our standard, we’re not looking at the record of the opponent, we’re looking at the film and we’re trying to play to our standard,” Forbes said. “I think that’s probably the biggest thing. It doesn’t matter if you win big on a team and you look at the film and you didn’t do your job or execute what you wanted to do on a particular play. Playing to our standard is the biggest thing when it comes to that.”
