He could have thrown them under the bus like the previous coach. And I didn't say they "needed" to be protected, but sometimes it helps young men to demonstrate that you have their back.

Well, Bobby did say he was out coached and that the team wasn't prepared. And he said the poor game plan was on him. So maybe, being head coach and all, he had something to do with it?

Two points:
(1) Come time to review film, these players will "face the music" -- Big Time! -- where it matters. That is, with their teammates and the coaches. A critique by people who "know things" means a Hell of a lot more than questions from random fans and reporters.

(2) Context. I, personally, think including players in the post-game presser is a dumb idea, whether it was a win or a loss. I know, that's how things are done now, but I still think it has more potential for problems than it does pluses. Sure, with only the coach, you're likely to get a lot of "coach speak" and not much substance. So what?
Actually, in the end, I think the post-game presser isn't that great an idea anyway. Again, I know that's how things are done now, but ... What purpose does it really serve? "Real" reporters used to dig for their stories, rather than going to an all-comers press conference hoping for a Gotcha! slip of the tongue (or whatever).

no, but in this case, nearly so. The basketball team lost a game they felt they could win, even though Michigan was an overwhelming favorite. The obviously felt the pain of losing. Yesterday, UM lost to a team they obviously felt, at least judging from this site and others, that was not even close to being competitive. They learned a good lesson and were probably embarrassed. Michigan was a good team, Portland State? But, life is like that. I am certain they won't be underestimating anyone for the remainder of this year.

The first half told me that we were totally unprepared for the PSU FLEX D. What did we have in the first half? a total of 20 total yards?

Mainly I chalk this up to one of THOSE games that no one could do anything right. Not consistently anyways.

Absolutely he did. The WHOLE team did, from head coach on down. I’m just saying he didn’t drop all those passes.

Rob, yes there were dropped passes. Just not as many as you seem to remember. There were three times as many throws which landed 10 yards away from where our receivers were.

Sneed has played extremely well this year. I am not dissing the guy. Yet Saturday he was off... way, way off. The late 4th qt pass to a wide open JLM streaking across the middle of the field was representative of his day. In case you don't remember that pass was thrown about 10 feet behind JLM and should have been an easy score to go up by 8 and seal the game.

I know the guy is capable of great play. This game is a 'one off', he will put it behind him and resume his former high level of play. Yet "all those dropped passes" was only a small piece of Saturday's fiasco.

Dude, try to keep up. My point is, that Hauck may handle that situation differently at different times, as would any other coach. This time he chose not to parade them out, and I am fine with that, because he is the one that works with these kids every day. GrizLA wants to compare how BH handled this situation to how TD handled the NCAA loss, and to that I say apples to oranges. I will also say that at times TD may do the same thing, it is all situational. I never said bringing the kids out to answer questions is a bad thing, but sometimes it might be.
