It's eye opening to look at how young this team really is still. You don't think about it much as these kids look the part and contribute. I think it speaks volumes to this staff's ability to recruit. The coaches are definitely building something. The question is will they get the chance to finish it.

All of these players are seeing considerable reps or starting

Red-shirt Freshman

Gresch Jensen
Sammy Akem
Samori Toure
Thayne Jackson
Lewis Cowans
Rey Green (would be getting plenty of reps)
Randy Rodriguez

Red-shirt Sophomore

Justin Calhoun
Josh Sandry
Jerry Louie McGee
Dante Olson
Brandon Purdy
Cy Sirmon
Vika Faatuiese
Jesse Sims
Angel Villanueva
Colin Bingham

And how many of these kids will be challenged by next years RS-Fr? As much as people question Stitts coaching ability, he may have the best recruiting classes of all time here.

I love this thread and love that people are recognizing the recruiting ability of coaches and their ability to coach these young men up and get them ready to play great football fast. Begs the question, and I know we have beat this to death, if coach doesn't do that great this year do we keep him? I say yes, based on the future he is building with the program and just for consistency sake I want him to stay. I think the revolving door approach would be worse than another year with Stitt.

Depends entirely on your definition of "doesn't do that great". Finishing exactly like last year, I'd probably have to say no. Making the playoffs with losses to EWoo and MSU and then losing in the 1st rd would still be a hard sell to stay. Anything better then that is definite yes, he stays.

Toure and Akem are beyond impressive. I'd imagine Rodriguez will be starting after this last game. Akem should be.

Akem might be the best blocking receiver I've seen in a long, long time. I believe it was on Toure's huge catch that he blocked 2 guys at once that set the edge for Toure's long gain.

Both those guy should be getting increased snaps in my opinion. Toure is a playmaker, Akem is reliable, and will be a big play threat.
