Griz WR's on 2016 roster

Fellas... keep in mind that the FBS scholarships are all Full ride.

FCS can divided scholarships in many different ways. That's why you see Stitt doing exactly what he had to do at his previous school in Colorado. Finding Great Athletes that will get academic scholarships also. It allows for greater flexibility and deeper 2nd and 3rd string players.

An example is Lamarriel Taylor from UMass. By all reports the guy is a brilliant student. I am quite sure that his academics have taken can of most if not all of the scholarship money he will receive.

So those 20 WR, might only account for 10 to 12 scholarships, or less if there are walk-ons involved.

Totally irrelevant to the discussion. FCS schools can only dress so many players, it is not unlimited just because a bunch of the may be on partials or academic scholarships. My point is, that the FBS teams which use a similar offense with 4-5 WRs in on most plays, only have as many WRs on their squads as UM does, even though they can dress more players. I may be incorrect that FBS schools can dress more players than FCS schools, and, If I am, then I stand corrected. If I am correct, then we have proportionately way more WRs than FBS schools running a similar offense.

Please comment Payton.

Your assumption about what the season roster will look like and position assignments of some of these athletes shows you don't have a clue about Stitt or what he is doing. Pontificating from ignorance is strong in this one.

I am fairly certain there are no NCAA rules on how many players dress for games, each conference dictates that. Home games everyone can dress, though coaches usually limit it because of space on the sidelines.

As far as NCAA rule for roster size.
FCS 90
FBS 105

From BSC Rule book
NCAA RULES
NCAA Rules shall govern football games played at all Big Sky Conference institutions.

TRAVEL SQUAD LIMITATIONS
1. When air travel and/or overnight lodging are involved, the travel squad limit for Conference,
non-Conference (except FBS) and FCS playoff games shall be fifty-eight (58) student-athletes.
The travel squad limit for FBS games shall be seventy (70).
(a) There is no travel squad limit for non-Conference contests (including FBS) when air travel
and/or overnight lodging are not involved.

But to re-iterate...

UM has 14 WR on the roster and six that will be at UM this fall. I find it hard to believe that ANY of the incoming frosh will burn a red-shirt this year. So the most UM CAN travel with is 14... but will probably be 8 or 9.

Just a guess

But, I guess I was incorrectly referring to the number of players allowed to dress, instead of the NCAA mandated roster size limit in FCS versus FBS, which is really the point of my concern. As you said, we will have 20 WRs, with several red-shirting. But, I believe that only 2 of the current WRs are seniors, meaning that we will return 18 WRs next season. To me, that is too high a percentage of the maximum NCAA allotment of roster positions. But thanks for the clarification.

STFU. You add nothing to the discussion, which is par for the course from you.

Just a sampling of other schools. Remember, Montana has no TE's.

Baylor WR/TE's = 17
Oregon WR/TE's = 19
Cal WR/TE's = 20

Remember that those schools have 85 scholarships, and UM is still down 4 schollies. Remember that those schools have larger roster limits too.

Valid point, which flies over the head of 90% on here!
What's your problem? Player made a good point and I accepted that point. Then you have to chime in and be a complete dick about it. You didn't even think about it until Player brought it up. Then you have to act as if you are part of the elite on this board.

I don't try to be part of "the elite". Why don't you make like a hockey player and get the puck out of here? Some drink from the fountain of knowledge. You only gargled!

I can't help but thing more than a couple of these guys are destined to move to the other side of the ball....just a hunch tho.

Wide receivers (hopefully) catch passes. This offense passes a lot. I'm usually offensive, but I'm no offensive genius. I think, however, that it might make sense to have a lot of wide receivers.

IF...IF...IF! If the rabbit had not stopped to scratch his ass, the fox wouldn't have eaten him! Coaches who make stupid moves like Stitt did are....... former coaches.

Seriously. how cam ANYONE who knows jack about Grizzly football support a coach who loses at home to freakin' Weber state, Cal Poly, and should have lost to Idaho State??? The cumulative records of those three teams was 12-21. We had loads of talent last season, including the FCS defensive player of the year, three great LBs, and three great WRs. Yet, we lost to these teams?????

And SUU had two players drafted into the NFL and they lost in the first round of the playoffs. Your point? Is it your expectation that the Griz win every single game they play?

My expectation is for the Griz play in the National Championship game, like they used to do routinely. Any other questions, Mr. participation trophy guy?

Same here. I just don't get the vapors if it doesn't happen.

No, you have been dumbed down by the decline of the program, just like most, and your expectations reflect that.

Cute. I guess spending 23% of your NCAA allotment of 90 roster players on one position is a good thing. I need to forget about my concern about defense and now feel so much better after reading your post.

I'm reminded of one of my favorite Twain lines from Connecticut Yankee,

"I was born modest; not all over, but in spots.". Yup...

Not even. Just shot an 81 two days ago on a Troon course.

Big deal. I shoot 81 every time I go out. It just varies which hole I get to 81 on.

Can't. Having too much fun watching you choke on a bucket of f*ck. Why try to add anything serious to your meaningless attempts at shock? If there is ever something of value its hopelessly lost in provocative drivel. I'll take the sugar coating over your horse shit coating every time, and pile on as I see fit. But I won't ask you to STFU, you'll take care of that yourself in no time.
