I don't think "by rule" it was even close to being iffy. When you watched the replay, it was TARGETING AND HELMET TO HELMET by its VERY DEFINITION. You can hate the rule, sometimes I hate it. I don't think it should always warrant an ejection. BUT, that's modern-day football and, with continued CTE revelations, it's going to get called EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's going to be enforced STRICTLY by officials at every level, and it's probably going to continue to evolve and even become more stringent. It sure as hell isn't going away. So, while again, I don't think Cookus was dirty, it was the dictionary version of what targeting and helmet to helmet is in today's game.
