Potomac Griz

Well-known member
I'll say more later, but thought I'd go ahead and post the stats for the game (Unofficial stats I'm sure though). These were from 'goviks.com' live stats.

Virgil Matthews 5-8 fg 2-3 3pt 1-2 ft 6 reb 8 assists 3 fouls 13 points
Kevin Criswell 1-8 fg 0-2 3pt 7-8 ft 9 reb 1 assist 0 fouls 9 points
Matt Martin 5-8 fg 4-5 3pt 2-2 ft 3 reb 4 assists 0 fouls 16 points
Jon Seyfert 3-5 fg 0-0 3pt 5-8 ft 6 reb 0 assist 2 fouls 11 points
Andrew Strait 7-10 fg 0-0 3pt 2-3 ft 7 reb 2 assists 2 fouls 16 points
Matt Dlouhy 1-5 fg 0-3 3pt 0-0 ft 2 reb 0 assist 4 fouls 2 points
Lamarr Farr 1-1 fg 1-1 3pt 1-2 ft 2 reb 1 assist 1 foul 4 points
Kamarr Davis 3-8 fg 0-3 3pt 0-0 ft 7 reb 0 assist 4 fouls 6 points
Corey Easley 1-4 fg 0-1 3pt 0-0 ft 1 reb 1 assist 0 fouls 2 points

TURNOVERS: 15 (J Seyfert 1, K Criswell 1, M Dlouhy 1, C Easley 1, K Davis 5, L Farr 1, M Martin 4, A Strait 1)
BLOCKED SHOTS: 3 (J Seyfert 3)
STEALS: 7 (J Seyfert 1, C Easley 1, M Martin 2, V Matthews 1, A Strait 2)

Strait & Martin each at 16 points. I bet the Cats are pretty upset that they'll be facing Strait & Martin 3 more years :) Criswell almost had a double double with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Matthews also almost had a double double with 13 points and 8 assists. He also had 6 rebounds and 0 turnovers & a steal. I'm glad to see Matthews getting more minutes now. I (Along with other posters) really wanted to see Matthews get more time earlier in the season. Seyfert had a good game also, 11 points and 6 rebounds. Really a all around good game by the Griz. Davis had quite a few rebounds, but was in foul trouble most of the second half.

Great win Griz!

good job martin....nice cheep shot on K.C. durham right before half...no wonder why he has been labled a head case. you try to give a kid the benefit of the doubt then he pulls that b.s.

Congrats Griz! great game. Did anyone listen to Weber and PSU? The wildcats shot lights out in the first half, something like 68 percent behind the trey and high 50s inside. They completed 22 of 23 free throws. I hope they're tired.

Where the heck did that come from? We already covered this earlier in a different thread. The Bozeman announcer is biased, just like the Missoula announcer is biased. If Martin made such a cheap shot on Casey Durham like you claim, then the refs would have called something. I've listened to MSU broadcasts and the announcers tend to bash the officials quite a bit.

Martin is the type of player you love if he plays for your team, but hate if he's playing against you. He's not a dirty player...don't take out your frustrations of the game out on one kid.

Besides, did it really have that much of an affect on the game? Martin shot the lights out yet all you have to say about it was that he made a cheap shot tonight. Nice job to you hells bells you're one hell of a sport.

I'm not going to bother arguing with most of that post Gym Rat, but I would definitely disagree with you concerning your last paragraph:

I thought that play had a huge effect on the game. I can't objectively say whether or not a foul should have been called on Martin, but had it gone the other way, Martin would have had an extra foul on him, the griz would have had 3 less points, and it was a tremendous momentum play heading into half. I thought that play set the tone for the entire second half shooting display the griz put on.

Bozone makes a good point, but I saw the play on the evening news and Durham took a flop that would have embarassed an epileptic. Also, it didn't bank. The shot barely hit the rim as it went through the rim.

:o :o Pariseau Eastern flopped on Martin three times Saturday result game changed but Montana survived. And Durham slammed into Martin at 100 miles and hour in 2nd meeting. Game changed and Martin got the bad rap from Bozone. Bozone said all week Montana guards no good. Martin has been adjusting to the flop and it has not been easy in the last two eastern games. Martin was going pretty good until the 2nd MSU game and that changed his season for the worse but I am very pleased that he got the breaks in this one. The game in Bozeman could not have been worse. The game in Portland could not have been better. All I heard all week is the bobcat guards are so much better. That may be true but it sure was nice to see Matt Martin have a nice day and how about that Virgil. The cat guards were busy doing a good job on Criswell and providing him something to rebound early. Go cats thank you Griz. :o :o

:o :o Great job Virgil Matthews.
5-8 shooting 2-3 threes 6 rebounds 8 assists and lots of blocks in recent games. 13 points. :o :o
