Griz vs WSU

Good win for the Grizzlies. 90 - 86 in OT.

Got something to build off of here. There were a lot of good things done in this game.

I think this is a big win for the Griz. OT, played like they wanted to win it at the end after giving it back to Weber in regulation. Martin shot well, Dlouhy with a bunch of boards, Strait gets the ball inside, and a game played with some heart...

Nice win guys... :thumb:

Great TEAM win! There were a lot of positives, Weber was the best rebounding team in the BSC and the Griz out boarded them led by Dlouhy with 11. Griz didn't turn it over as much as against ISU, Rundles had a tough night which freshmen do and Ellis and Martin picked up the slack. Hasquet was off. The Griz got Strait involved again, have to have him. Chavez played inspired. Niice job by Tinks. He must have done something to light a fire in these guys because the effort was evident. Early in the second half the Griz could have folded the tents when Weber came out and got the Griz down early, but the Griz battled and battled.

This doesn't make the season, but it sure had to give the team some confidence in themselves and in the coach, which is huge. :thumb:

difficult but way to go Cats...hey Bengal backers,,,,eat..XXit...not as easy as you thought huh,,,duds beat the thugs!

I don't think anyone thought it was going to be easy. Overall, I think most Bengal fans are actually surprised and very happy to be in first place.

The BSC will not be decided until the last week of the season. Mark it down, take it to the bank. ISU WILL lose more games this season, the league is too balanced.

stuck listening to radio I want to send props to Mick and side kick? they did a great job doing play by play and even after it went to overtime, never gave up..and relayed confidence throughout radio broadcast,,,props to the announcers! but mostly way to go GRIZ!,,,now they have found the missing link....keep it up...they can win this conference tourney! I have been critical at times but always hope and begining to feel it! Hey Tinks ,,sounded excited after ballgame....maybe the emotion is just seeping in! GO Griz,,,surprise them on the road next week!

Wow, great game by Matt Martin. On a day his parents come to watch the game, he pops in 28 points including some clutch freethrow shooting, on a night where if the Griz shot better from the line in regulation, there wouldn't have been an overtime.

I believe Greg Sundberg added on the commentary.

He does an excellent Neil Diamond act, btw.

Greg is a great guy, but I would have believed John Candy or Chris Farley before Neil Diamond. :thumb:

salmonbengal...yeah, first palce in Jan.. and I too am surprised but O'Brien has really done a remarkable job...hate it when the Cats win in anything..except tonite...good luck the rest of the year...Pocatown is closer for me to be able to attend the tourney anyway...and we all know that is when the Griz play their best basketball!

After the loss to the Griz the cats are doing pretty well!

How was the crowd tonight?

Mucho more noise. At least in the second half and overtime. first half and early part of second half, not so good.

Attendance was 4,286.

Decent sized crowd (by today's standards) and pretty dead until Martin and Chavez ignited things in the second half, then it really came to life. The Griz still have a lot of work to do on their interior defense if they want any sustained success the rest of this season. Tonight, Hasquet really struggled on defense. He got pushed around and did not rebound. Weber had way too many easy lay ups. When Chase came in, he forced his guy outside and played solid defense. He is obviously very strong. He also sets serious picks which helped the Griz outside shooters get open looks. Chavez also defended physically and gave the Griz a real boost on offense as well. While Dlouhy did not have a big offensive night, he was a man on the boards He also avoided the sloppy passes that he sometimes throws. I also think it's time for Ellis to start again. When is Ellis is in, Strait's offense really gets going. :twocents:

So after tonight's action, here's out it stands:

ISU 5 - 1
WSU 5 - 3
NAU 5 - 3
UM 3 - 3
MSU 3 - 3
PSU 4 - 4
EWU 4 - 4
SAC 2 - 4
UNC 1 - 7

I think we are in for a wild ride.

Yesssss... two games back and only one if we manage to beat ISU on the road. So last game I won the cell phone promotion and tonight I almost got kicked out for throwing a mini ball at the back of a [male] cheerleader's head. good times. I had a good reason though.

Jesus Christ, that was ridiculous. We were a few rows back booing the cop.
