I really hate holding the ball for the last shot...it rarely pays off and breaks the pace that got the lead in the first place. A drive can result in pts and a foul....oh, well...

I hold for the last shot, I could be +3 but at worst even. If I shoot early and give a possession, I could be +3 but at worst could be -3. Holding for the last shot is statistically the correct play.
