Griz vs Washington

If Griz can figure anything out with their bigs and get better on the glass they will be a difficult team to beat in conference

That's it. Deshields missed front end of 1/1. Tinkle needs to do something to get us to shoot free-throws better at the beginning of the year.

Last game, lost due to the inability to make a FT...this game, unable to tie it up due to missed FT's. SHIT.

Out rebounded, is a given like every game this year.

Washington wins. FUCK ME

Hope Tinks does a little ass chewing and perhaps make someone shoot FT's this week? Maybe?

Griz finish the game 6-13 from the FT line and with only 14 total rebounds.

Washington was 24-31 from the FT line and had 34 total rebounds.

Ouch...

I know I've said it before but maybe it's time to stick Kemp in as the starting 5 and just go small from the start. We are getting destroyed on the boards anyway and honestly he's a better rebounder anyway.

Hutch - 17 minutes, 0 points, 1 rebound.
Weisner - 33 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds.
Martin - 6 minutes, 0 points, 1 rebound.
Kemp - 14 minutes, 6 points, 3 rebounds.

When Kemp is in there our guards have someone to pass it to underneath when they penetrate also. It kind of handcuffs our guards when they drive into the lane and have no post to dump it off to who can get the ball in the hoop.

Second straight game that free throws forge the result.

They had the free throws to win, but that is not the only thing that led to the result.

No. But their final possession would have been different if it was tied or the Griz were up 1.

Entire game could have been different with 4 more rebounds, even allowing 1 less offensive rebound.

Not much to summarize here. Gregory, Deshields, and Jamar with great games. Hell our backcourt out played theirs. Deshields did everything then some, of what a PG should do. What a huge improvement, has to build his confidence a lot. Bad FT shooting, rebounding, and a few too many defensive breakdowns cost the GRIZ this game.

Wayne is right, they have to get our bigs up to par. Anytime your 1,2,3 positions play that well, there is no excuse for losing. Not many teams can answer our blows like Washington did though. That was damn impressive though.

Despite the loss, I have a very good feeling about this GRIZ team overall. Still upset and disappointed over the SF loss. On to Hawaii now. I am not sure what to expect from a long trip like that one.
