Griz vs SUU

I left too much wiggle room. So much for brevity is clarity, at least with me.
Lady Griz: Fantastic. Holsinger has put it together, in his FIRST YEAR! :thumb:
Griz: TDC .607 with three HOME games left, in his EIGHTH year. I would have expected more from his having eight years to show his worth. Griz should be a well tuned machine by this point. Last week(weak) blowing a 16 pt halftime lead, then losing by EIGHT. Coaching???

If Travis chooses to play 4 guards, then one or two of them must play tough like Sayeed Pridgett (born May 22, 1998) Listed height: 6 ft 5 inches. Just my opinion.

Griz often getting outrebounded in Losses. Rebounding is majority effort and desire. Like I posted previously Wes Unseld was 6'8" center leading NBA in rebounding.

While I agree that effort and desire is a big part of rebounding, I tend to believe that part of the Griz issue can be directly related to scheme and personnel as well. It just isn't as simple as believing that the Griz lack the effort and/or desire to rebound better.

What scheme do you think the Griz could use to rebound better, defensive rebounding specifically?
I am certainly no basketball guy but isn't it common knowledge that the griz regularly have four gaurds on the floor? I think it's also pretty apartment that Travis doesn't emphasize the bigs and their role in the scene. Maybe that could be contributing to the lack of rebounding.

There have been some scenarios where Lonnell has played the 4, which has given us some interesting looks offensively. That being said Bannan has started 28 out 28 games. Mack has started 25/25 games. I don’t think we’re spending the majority of the game playing small ball. When you look at the stats the lack of rebounding from our bigs is pretty alarming outside of Bannan. Mack averages 3.3 rebounds a game. 1 every 5 minutes. DJ averages 2.5 in 20 minutes…1 every 10 minutes. Blakney 2 per game, plays 10 minutes a game. Kyle, 2 in 12 minutes. Pretty incredible

I would suggest that this post represents something entirely different than the original post.

Thanks for reinforcing my point.

Our 4 big men outside of Bannan average under 10 rebounds a game combined in 60 min of play

I've never seen anyone figure averages over 1.5 games. Games are 40 minutes.

Lol. I’m talking about their combined minutes per game.
DJ: 21.1 mpg
Kyle: 12.2 mpg
Mack: 15.6 mpg
Blakney: 10.9 mpg

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Mack Anderson has not played since he fell hard on his right forearm in the loss vs NAU. Without Mack, Montana's defense at the top of the key has struggled. Hope he can play today, but have not heard any updates.

Players don't deteriorate the coaches fail to improve them and put them in positions to be successful. This is the MO of this team and its a reflection of poor coaching and the lack of being able to utilize the talent on this roster. DCH, OWENS and Vasques are prime examples of wasted and mislead talent. Beasley, Whitney and Bannon are players that have ability also but the lack of leadership from the coaching staff allows them to play just as bad as they do good because they are allowed or told to do the same shit over and over again. Martin doesn't give you much and still has the green light when others outside of the new big three can jack up whatever they want with no consequence so what does that do for the other players that do not have the same freedom and get pulled for 1 miss and can't get into a rhythm. These guys didn't regress the coaching staff is destroying their will to want to play because it's clear they are not valued. Same offense or isolation crap over and over and you expect teams not to figure it out. No adjustments, player rotations are trash and this keeps happening over and over again. At what point does everyone realize that these guys cant coach!!! Having good players that win for you does not make you a good coach and it's time people know the difference. This guy needs to go and thats as clear as day. Destroy the confidence of you players, blow lead after lead, loose to the worst teams in the league and get out coached in close games and we continue to praise this guy. I know this won't be a popular post but the facts are there and you can't argue with the product on the floor nor the results. Chime in if you all would like but in the end it's just my opinion on what I see and I stand by it.

Coach Trav is 18-4 against the Cats. That's all you need to know.

Note to “never met a paragraph I didn’t like”.
Bear with me here but let’s try and approach this from an objective standpoint. And I’ve been critical of the coaching staff regarding player development, lack of a good quality big man and blowing 16 point half time leads and everything else to complain about but let’s address this issue one at a time.: player development and playing time for last years starters who barely see the floor this year.
Correct me if I’m wrong but a basketball coaches tenure is based on wins vs losses. A coach does not become tenured like faculty where once they get a few years in they can rest on their laurels and never have to worry about job security. Therefore doesn’t it behoove a coach to put the best 5 players on the floor that will give him the best chance to keep his job? Travis and staff work with these young men everyday and for many hours a week and which players should help him keep his job. We can speculate all we want but coaches look at personnel line ups and hopefully create the best matchups. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, kinda like life.

Now on to “it’s the coaches fault for not developing/improving DCH, JOSH & OWENS. I’d be willing to bet your a democrat? Blaming everyone else for your lack of playing time. I like those three guys a lot but who do they start in front of, Brannon? Whitney? Beadsley? DCH has started the last few games but has not been highly productive.

Before you call for the coaches head maybe you should review his record. And not his record on the court but what is Travis’s record for player graduation rate? Yep 100% for 8 years. 100% for eight years, I’ll bet there isn’t a DEV 1 program in this country to match that. You talk player development, how about giving these young men a degree that will open doors for them in their future? Admit it, the Damon Lliards (?) of this world don’t play bb in the BSC and make it to the NBA.
In conclusion I’d like to thank my parents Bud and Lucile for giving me the opportunity to get my degree and to pass it on to my kids. Amen
P.S. please Lord gives us big transfer to fill the middle and get rebounds.

I think Mack may be done for the year/career. Hope I am wrong but doesn't sound good.

He is eligible to play next year right?

I think you missed the point of the whole piece. Maybe a little sensitivity session would be in order. My apology if I stepped on your toes.
