Griz vs SUU

Did I see Travis talking about BLM power a few months ago & how deprived he has been. Very mediocre coach. I won't buy tix for any more Griz bball games if he is coach. Loses to every Power 5 time by 70 & now is a middle of the pack big sky team. Fire him!!!!

Players don't deteriorate the coaches fail to improve them and put them in positions to be successful. This is the MO of this team and its a reflection of poor coaching and the lack of being able to utilize the talent on this roster. DCH, OWENS and Vasques are prime examples of wasted and mislead talent. Beasley, Whitney and Bannon are players that have ability also but the lack of leadership from the coaching staff allows them to play just as bad as they do good because they are allowed or told to do the same shit over and over again. Martin doesn't give you much and still has the green light when others outside of the new big three can jack up whatever they want with no consequence so what does that do for the other players that do not have the same freedom and get pulled for 1 miss and can't get into a rhythm. These guys didn't regress the coaching staff is destroying their will to want to play because it's clear they are not valued. Same offense or isolation crap over and over and you expect teams not to figure it out. No adjustments, player rotations are trash and this keeps happening over and over again. At what point does everyone realize that these guys cant coach!!! Having good players that win for you does not make you a good coach and it's time people know the difference. This guy needs to go and thats as clear as day. Destroy the confidence of you players, blow lead after lead, loose to the worst teams in the league and get out coached in close games and we continue to praise this guy. I know this won't be a popular post but the facts are there and you can't argue with the product on the floor nor the results. Chime in if you all would like but in the end it's just my opinion on what I see and I stand by it.

Griz fan for life!! This is totally ridiculous having to watch the fall of Griz bball under Mr Decuire!! I've talked to @ least 20 Griz fans about this & 90% of us agree....unacceptable & embarrassing. Get rid of him

Listened to Travis postgame.....he's one who's rarely put any blame on himself or the coaches for losses. No blame on you or the coaches tonight?? But a few subtle reffing excuses and some throwing his guys under the bus.

But a win....even an ugly one like a few we've seen this year...it's usually his "adjustments and wrinkles" that he credits significantly. I don't like that! Wonder if his players do?

Knock, knock.Who's there? The Big Sky Champs to kick your ass. See Ya Sunday. Pack a lunch and put some rocks in your pockets. lol....

This is the same exact thing that happened to the Griz last year against SUU. In both games we got up by around 12 and then SUU's sheer willpower, determination, and athleticism took over. It feels like SUU tries to play tactics with UM for the 1st half, gets down, then just lets the dogs loose. You see Knight fearlessly attacking the rim in transition, Fausett and crew attacking the O boards. What was shocking to me was 197lb Tev Jones exploiting Bannan and DJ on free throw box-outs...he just wanted it more.

At some point X's and O's matter but you've gotta have guys capable of making big plays when it's nut crunching time. Bannan missed 3 straight left hand hooks, Beasley missing a wide open elbow jumper, all the free throws we missed...Our guys don't know how to close out games, because they've never had to sit and learn from jrs and srs ahead of them imo.

Think to the years when the Griz were truly dominant. Upperclassmen led the way. It was rare, if not impossible for a freshman to see meaningful minutes outside of Cherry and Jamar, and those guys had AJ, BQ, Derek, and Staudacher to learn from. Those guys then took the lead and won back to back championships. Then in 2017-18 we had Fab (Sr) Bobby (Jr) Mike (Jr) Ahmaad (Jr) Jamar (Jr) Donovan (Jr). Timmy gave great reserve minutes as a freshman and Sayeed was blossoming into a star as a sophomore. Then those guys do it again the next year.

I think the biggest problem in our program today is we give up on guys too quickly and get shiny object syndrome. Next year's transfer is going to be the game changer, next year's freshman class is going to get us over the hump. We shouldn't be relying on unknowns to carry the weight of the program. At least back in the day transfers had to sit out a year to learn program expectations. Now we get ok players from bad programs and wonder why they don't perform to a championship level. I agree our development has to improve, we also need to focus on stabilizing the program to see more 4-5 year guys on the floor like the Bobbys and Fabs of the world.

Griz often getting outrebounded in Losses. Rebounding is majority effort and desire. Like I posted previously Wes Unseld was 6'8" center leading NBA in rebounding.

While I agree that effort and desire is a big part of rebounding, I tend to believe that part of the Griz issue can be directly related to scheme and personnel as well. It just isn't as simple as believing that the Griz lack the effort and/or desire to rebound better.

Winning percentage for Lady Griz: .654
Winning percentage for Griz: .607

What is wrong with this picture?

I guess he wishes the Lady Griz were doing worse than they are?

My thoughts exactly, HHB. During my years at UM, the Lady Griz always had a much higher winning percentage than their male counterparts.

What scheme do you think the Griz could use to rebound better, defensive rebounding specifically?

I am certainly no basketball guy but isn't it common knowledge that the griz regularly have four gaurds on the floor? I think it's also pretty apartment that Travis doesn't emphasize the bigs and their role in the scene. Maybe that could be contributing to the lack of rebounding.
