And, it's tied with UM fouling a shooter...There is something not quite right with UM after a half. The big guys for SUU are both in foul trouble and UM is not taking advantage. Really hard to watch this game after game....now the much vaunted free throwing team is not....

Griz with a (so far) 4 min scoring drought.
 
I have to agree with the homer announcers about the stupid poor strategy of not putting anyone on the free throw line to at least be competitive. So many things about this team are mysteries...Is it the coaching? How does a team play champion level first half, and shift to total ineptness in the second? Maybe, at half time, the Griz players should not meet with the coaches at all. Something changes their play in the second half.
 
Strong defense and free throws are supposed to be where we hang our hats. Neither serving us well tonight.
 
I was thinking that, when these boys were up by 16, it will be interesting to see how they blow it. And now I know.

A total head-scratcher.

As I suggested in a post on another thread, DeCuire seems to be able to devise a game plan that works great ... for awhile. The team mitigates its weakness, and plays to its strength. And I'm willing to then give the opponent's coaches credit for figuring out what new wrinkles they're facing and fixing things. But the change seems too extreme to credit it just to that. On the road at least, the Griz too often cannot hold a lead and then cannot muster a comeback.

So, is it coaching or lack thereof? UM seems to slip a bit every year. Over coaching? Too many coaches on the bench? Wrong coaches for the team talent level? Not sure how to even look at this team, anymore. I begin to wonder if they can win any more games this year. A couple of teams in the BSC that they lose to are made up of transfers and just thrown together by very good coaching. That is something UM could consider, but I doubt will ever happen.

Travis Decuire isn't much! Bring back Krysyowiak. Decuire has Juniors on the team that were better as freshman...kinda says it all. He needs to be fired immediately.
 
Does Travis not know that he needs to recruit a big man once every 4 years @ least. What a joke. Embarrassed & refuse to support this Griz bball nonsense. Happy to see the Lady Griz getting better under a coach!!!!
 
Travis got out coached. Never thought I’d ever have to say that but how do you squander a 16 point half time lead and lose by 8? And this seems to be the norm as of late. Offensive rebounding which was a big plus for the Griz in the first half turned into a nightmare in the second half. How do you not know where your man is? A player should already have position since he is defending the basket? In a zone defenses you are defending an area and not a man so it’s understandable when an offensive player can get position.
I’m just getting more and more frustrated by this ball club. The only bright spot in tonight’s game, the women kicked ass at home.
As for the men with the upcoming game on Sunday against the cats if they could play like they did in half one the might have a chance. Now I have doubts.
