Griz vs suu

Can't blame the refs for truly bad player judgement by UM who have now lost 5 in a row.

You sure as shit can blame him when Vasquez didn't even touch the guy. Horseshit call.

Maybe, maybe not, but you can't consistently blow big leads like that. That just seems to be bad coaching in my opinion.

When you have an inconsistent, average offense and struggle defensively against the dribble drive, every game will be a roller coaster.

It’s not the coaches fault that we give up offensive rebounds and way too many turnovers.

Inconsistent offense has become a staple of the DeCuire era. Like it or not. Something has to be fixed, like I said on Thursday.

Second chance points 15 for SUU and 3 for Griz. That’s the difference. Griz were up 8 with 3 mins left in game and blew it. Horseshit call at end to gift SUU the game but Griz put themselves in that position and really didn’t deserve to win.

SU is better than I thought, after first seeing them. They were certainly tougher than the Griz in both games.

I wasn't saying that one call on Vasquez is the REASON they lost, just saying it was a horseshit call and a BRUTAL way to lose. I'm blaming the zebra for a horrible call, but not the loss. Again, I wish during the last 4 or so minutes of the game the offense doesn't go into stall ball and just kept doing what got them the lead. It happened with Rorie, Oguine and Co and I wish TDC would move away from that philoshophy.

LOL this is embarrassing.

If you are referencing the Griz...why? If you are referencing some posters on eGriz....I agree.

Both really. Posters are a given, but this team is all sorts of mediocre at best. Can't shoot, can't defend penetration into the paint (SUU had like 10 dunks), and go on lengthy stretches where they can't score. It is what it is, but I am starting to have doubts about Decuire's abilities to run a decent offense. Then again, its a young team during an abnormal year so who the hell knows.

So not being very good at things makes them embarrassing?

What exactly are you getting at here? Losing back to back to SUU isn't a good look. If you have some positive thoughts on this years team please share them.

I don't see it as embarrassing. SUU right now is a better team, a more experienced team. The story for the Griz this season will be growth and improvement. I think your expectations cloud your reality.

Another tough one, but I think the Griz played measurably better than they did Thursday. This is a classic "young-team" loss. They just couldn't build on a 10-point lead, despite 4-5 chances to expand the lead into double digits. I don't think they'll forget these, particularly that it's not wise to let a referee decide the win-loss play with his whistle.
Sure was impressed with the improvement of Kyle Owens, and some settling down, and very good floor play by Cameron Parker. With the way that Josh Vazquez is shooting, I think it'll be good to get more opportunities for him.
In short, I think this young team will just build on this. Whether it pays off this year or next year is yet to be seen.

Pretty sure I'm not the only Griz fan out there with high expectations. The reality is the Griz look bad. That shouldn't make any fan happy.

Just because you and others have high expectations doesn't make them realistic. You have a young team that has played 3 games that is struggling to figure it out. I will judge this team more at the end of the year than I will now.

Fucked again, wasn’t a big margin this time but for the 22nd game in a row the opponents shot more fts than the Griz, with is odd beings they also shot more 3 pointers, and still even though the stats look more even from a foul perspective there were times, all of witch happen to be when the Griz are leading that the refs call phantom fouls when Southern loses the handle out of bounds or the Griz deflect a pass then off of a southern player and it’s still Southern ball, or at 1 weird point in the game where 2 points disappeared from the Griz score, were they hoping nobody noticed???...I noticed the refs getting tf out of dodge as soon as it was over they were speed walking to the exit

High expectations for a brand new and young team, with 2 players who started one or both games not playing today and 2 good guards expected to play this year no longer with the program? Not one full-time starter from last year starting today. Several more players expected to join the team this year.

The team has a long way to go. It's just the beginning. Don't know why any fan would be embarrassed. I'd like to win every game, but that's never realistic.

DeCuire has a history of getting his team going at some point during the season. I hope he does this year too.

Expectations can be high, but they should also be realistic. Perhaps the reality is the Griz look bad because right now they ARE bad. :werd:

My observation as a person that reffed at a high level for 25 years. The officiating today was actually pretty good but The last call was marginal at best. In my experience a foul at the end of the game that determines the winner has to be an obvious foul. I’m not sure that was the case with that one. We lost the game in the three to five possessions in the last couple of minutes when we either didn’t convert shots or turned it over. This team will follow the same pattern as all of Travis’s teams. Start slow and get better as the year goes on. I hope we see SUU in the tournament.
