Griz vs SJSU Game Thread

Sort of watched in fits and starts, but seemed like a lot of contributions from a lot of Griz.

Krslovic strong on boards. Guards penetrated and had some impressive passes/assists.

Oguine provided some thrills with some of his baskets; boy can he elevate!

Embarrassment of riches! Too many good guards. Travis has to be pleased. It was a great game. Kids came to play with "fire." Great offensive pressure.

Fun game to watch! The Griz started the game aggressively and set the tone. They lost their focus in the second half and almost gave up a 20 point lead. The big dunk by Oguine and back to back threes by Lopez were the nail in the coffin. Oguine can jump, holy crap!

The Griz look like a team that's playing with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. I love to see Oguine, Wright and Rosie on the floor together. They look like they have been playing together since childhood.

Go get some retribution in Laramie and win a couple on the road. Go Griz!

I was at the game, 3 dunks showed the athleticism of both teams. Oguine had two spectacular ally-oops. I think it was #10 for SJSU that had one of the prettiest dunks I've ever seen in person (over Krslovic and Samuelson, I think, and from a foot or two inside the free throw), pretty enough that it had griz fans in awe and applauding. Great game! Griz looked fired up and played with an edge. Buckets weren't falling in the 2nd half for a bit but they stuck with it and played some amazing defense. Krslovic, man, that dude goes to battle every time he steps on the court. Love watching this team get some confidence after a tough schedule. Off to kick them cowboys!

What a fantastic game! The team was relentless on both sides of the court and it's so nice to see the attacking offense this year. I guess I was thinking we would see more three shots this year but the first part of this season the griz are always looking to slash through the key and get high percentage shots. It's amazing to see how this team's athleticism has made up for our size disparity in regards to rebounding. We have some incredibly athletic guys (Oguine, Moorhead, Pridgett) that have a nose for the ball. Loved seeing Lopez come uncorked and shoot the ball well as well as tough defense. Walter was feeling his oats and is really figuring out how to get his shots off amongst the timbers this year where he was getting swatted last year. Mouth had himself a great game! Two steals and lead the fast break at the end the ended in the sweet alley-oop to Oguine from Walter. If you all didn't see that, that's a shame. It was an AMAZING sequence! Great, complete game, Griz!

I listened to the game while working, then watched it on demand. The good, it was their most complete game on each end of the court. Even more encouraging, they have a lot of room for improvement. They turned the ball over a lot and still need to improve the 3 point shooting.

The athleticism and quickness of the GRIZ help them play tough defense and rebound, despite a size disparity most games. It sure is nice to have 5 guys capable of running the offense and play multiple positions on each end of the court. Hard to believe, Rorie, Oguine, Wright, Dunn, and Pridgett all are great penetrators, passers, and good 3 pt shots. It is so rare for a small to mid major team to have the kind of riches the GRIZ have at guard.

It also looks like Travis has found the right rotation with Dunn and Wright coming off the bench. What terrific leadership and versatility coming off that bench. Oguine has one of the best verticals I have ever seen. I am sure his vertical is over 40". He and Rorie are going to be special. Yes, they are both sophomores!!! I pray these 2 stay healthy for their whole careers. Enjoy these 2 while we can. Dunn and Wright are damn talented themselves.

Now to get Gfeller and Moorehead to find their perimeter shots. I am not worried about Lopez, he has been hitting consistently for the last year now. What about Krslovic? Love his defense and rebounding!!! He is so much stronger and quicker than last season. His 18 foot jumper looked great too, tonight.

Now for the GRIZ to have a great road trip. #gogriz.

I've been blown away by Krslovic to this point of the season! His defense has obviously always been a strong point, but it feels like even that has gone up another level this season. Last night was just a great example of that with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 steals. When's the last time you saw a center with 8 steals?!

Two points.
Lesser: It's interesting that Krslovic, at 6-8 and 239 pounds, is not shown as a Center on the goGriz roster posting. He's listed as a Forward ... and there is no Center listed at all. Doesn't matter and no big deal, but "interesting."

Bigger point: I think we just saw the best way for the Griz to win ball games. Lot's of energy all over the court, smart and super-active defense, and slashing attacks to the basket on offense to avoid too much dependence upon their 3-point shooting on a given night. Right now, they're shooting well from the free throw line (77.2%). They need to keep that up, since slashing to the basket tends to generate a lot of trips to the foul line.
