I go to every griz home game. I watched Gus very thoroughly the last 3 home games. Fact is, he looked much more comfortable out there than ever before. He had more confidence. He was quicker, etc. IT was the 1st time this year he showed flashes of his hype. Not sure if something was wrong beyond adjustments or not. Rather it is mental or physical, I do not know. I do know though he appeared to be coming around nicely, with good signs to developing more.
The coaches also accomodated him more by not teaming him up with Strait as often. He was much more comfortable having the paint to himself offensively. Offensively his height is not as much of an issue one on one, being he creates space well. His height gets him in trouble with lots of traffic. I noticed that before the SDSU game, apparently the coaches did too. Do not be surprised we see Gus spell Andrew, and have him in with perimeter oriented players for the most part for now on.
As for Sharp, he has more issues than normal due to health being up and down with his Diabetes. I do not know the extents of it this year, but it sometimes effects his play dramatically. Wayne acknowledged the coaches having to monitor his play more closely this year than last due to that.
It was nice to see both contribute off the bench and see what either is capable of. As for Kyle, I admire him for the role model he is to younger kids, that might otherwise let diabetes or other health problems stop them from competing. Thank you Kyle for your inspiration you provide to everyone of all ages!!!! :thumb:
