Griz vs PSU II

Amazing for all the bitching we have been doing about little inside game. Small ball has become consistent, and teams are being forced to match up with us. That is an excellent sign for any team. Nicer yet, the GRIZ do not have to depend on Will, Kareem, and Mathias every game. A lot of players that can score and capable of putting up double digits any given game.

Coleman, Weisner, Gregory, Henderson, Deshields give the GRIZ 8 guys that can score consistently. Not many teams have that kind of depth in scoring. More encouraging, we have yet to have a game of 40 minutes of great ball

This team is a very nice team.

The best thing about our depth is that we play 9-10 out of 12 guys every night for significant minutes. That's definitely the best attribute of this Griz team.

Yep. That's the biggest difference between this team and many other good Griz teams.

It's a far cry from a few years ago when AJ had to go out of his mind to beat Weber. Not that I am putting that team down, it's just nice to not have to depend on one guy like that. (That game is probably my personal favorite, though.)

2nd place after the Nevada NCAA win. :thumb:

I think we would have beaten CSU with Cherry. We would have still lost to BYU. I am not sure how we would have fared against USF with Will. We played a bad game against USF.

Congrats coaches, and players, we are proud of this team. Keep it going GRIZ!!!!

Glad that Tink is moving in this direction too!

Seems to me Spencer has really grown into a great contributer in all phases. A credit to both him and the team after a bit of a shaky begining. He seemed a bit lost in some ooc games I watched.

Tinks figured out how to use him and he learned how to mesh w/teammates, now a major factor in the team's success. This is good coaching, often putting a new cog in the machine does not work so well. But this bunch is playing together and that is fun to see as a fan of TEAM basketball. :thumb:

We just seem to physically and mentally wear teams out in the second half. Only MSU has hung tough in conference.

Clearly that is what our depth and unselfishness allows---even the PSU radio announcer said Montana is a deep team with a variety of players..... :thumb:

8 guys that can score from 3. 7 guys that can defend the the perimeter well. 6 guys that are threats to score outside or penetrate. 4 creators to set up teammates well, and everyone that can run (yes Hutchison and Martin can get out and run too for bigs) 4 guys that can the half court offense.

This team has a lot of wild cards when they struggle in any one aspect of the game. I pray this team adds a true post presence going into next season.

Seeing the Griz in person you really see how good they are. You blink and they have put 10 points on the board

Where you sitting Oct? Want to try and pick you out!

My phone went dead before I saw this. We were sitting 7 rows behind the Griz bench. We were both wearing our Griz caps. I had on a Griz polo shirt.

At the end of the game when the Griz emptied the bench, Jamar tried to sneak back onto the court. The laughing coaches escorted him back to the sideline.

Lol.. awesome. Any other stories or reports from being at game? The Griz crowd looked impressive and were louder than the PSU crowd..

Also Mick reported that there were 15 ex griz players at game?

I was at the game and it was very impressive with a few minor let downs defensively! I am extremely impressed with spencer Coleman, he is really coming in to his own. He will be the true X factor. Even more impressive is that they did all this Kareem on the bench in the second half. He picked up 3 fouls in 2 minutes!
Former Griz players at the game:
Mike Warhank
Jared Buckmaster
Ryan Slider
Andrew Strait
Shaun Stockton
Ryan Staudacher

At least those are the ones I saw!

Socalgriz2344 has it right that Jamar was on the bench a good portion of the 2nd half. It seemed that one of the refs was not happy with Jamar. It sounded like the ref gave Tinkle a warning after Jamar got his 3rd foul. My brother was worried that Jamar would get his 5th foul shaking hands with the PSU players after the game

Even though the Griz looked sloppy at times I never felt that the game was at risk. One thing that ticked me off was in one corner of the arena there is a large video screen. On a number of times as the Griz came down the court in the 2nd half the video screen would flicker like a strobe light. Don't know if it was intentional because they did turn it off when players were shooting free throws on that end of the court but it was blinding.

It was about a 50/50 crowd mix between Griz & PSU fans and the court announcer was terrible.

At least he is a good match for their little gymnasium. It makes me feel like I am back in high school except PSU's is worse.
