Griz vs Lights

Nice start for the Griz. Tough day for cats Huse in the opener of his 5 year plan (Chronicle comments earlier today)...

Earlier comments are true, we need some solid play from the BSC to get the RPI to at least respectable...

Well it matters for our seed, Swill. I do not care to see anymore 15 and 16 seeds, thank you.

If we take care of business, then they will respect us. Werent we a 12 seed last season? I think they would take that into consideration...and the three straight appearances might not hurt..

First thing is first....we have to win the tourney

According to ESPN scoreboard EWU getting pounded by Gonzaga, PSU getting pounded by CS Northridge. But then ESPN says the Griz are playing UM- Western instead of MSU - Northern, so take it with a grain of salt.

Gonzaga 76 EWU 53 7:35 2nd Stuckey has 14

Northridge 90 PSU 65 Final

Weber 31 Col Christian 18

Bobcats losing

Sac was losing

Sac was never losing... They had a 3 pointer/dunkfest all night long.

I was going off the score the announcer gave, sorry about that, I was wondering how you could be down to that team.

   To the M  MUCH improved defense, desire, and rebounding. That is the griz I expected earlier. :thumb: Very impressive.

Defense, rebounding, and ball distribution were unreal. PG is looking really good for us with Ellis, Martin, and Rundles. Those three should combine for 10 assists per game consistently this year. Too bad Ellis is still hurting.

Offensively it looks like Strait and Hasquet are going to be the main men with Dloughy, Martin, Swift, Rundles, Chase, Sharp and Staudacher sharing the workload quite often. I absolutely loved it with Martin, Staudacher, Dloughy, Strait, and Hasquet. Strait with 4 good shooters from downtown. There was a short stretch with that combination when Martin and Staudacher each scored 5 in a matter of a few minutes. After that Strait's night got easy again.

Everyone played well, no major bad plays or performances tonight. Two unexpected players really impressed me. Sharp and Spurgettis work so well together and both make things happen. These 2 just have a nose for the ball. I knew that about Sharp form last year, but Spurgettis impresses me more each time I watch him. He is winning me over more each team. He is proving he belongs on the GRIZ. I will be the 1st to say "I was wrong about him." I hope some other naysayers will give him his due too. A few weeks ago there were a few posters saying "who cares".

As for tonight's game, This griz fan is very happy and even more excited this season is finally here. BTW the $138.00 season ticket is pretty good. Get those season tickets while you can, by time BSC play rolls around, tickets may be hard to come by. Tonight's attendance was about 4,500. Very impressive, considering who were playing.

I liked the halftime adjustments by Tinks again. The Griz were launching too many 3's and not working the ball down low to Strait. The only shot a few 3's the second half and made most of them. Nice looking bunch with a lot of depth. There are a lot of combinations Tinks can go with.

Where is that poster who said msun was going to beat us? he must be 3outa4's cousin.

Just because the announcer said that there was 4500 there, doesnt mean that there was 4500 there....

You are stupid if you think Spurgettis is gonna see any time this season unless we are up or down by 25.
Stupid??? It's one thing to disagree. It's another thing to name call. I don't know how much Greg will play, but he's looked pretty good thus far and had super credentials coming out of high school (All-Greater Spokane). I would not underestimate him. With Mayes out (at least for now), Greg will probably get some time in non-blowouts. :twocents:

Lights were pretty week-very poorly coached. Rundles looks like
the best PG the Griz have. Gus will need more minutes-coaching
staff will have to make some tough decisions.

Regarding Spurgettis, nobody on egriz expected anything of him. In fact, there are some surprised he is on the team still. At the end of last season, I too thought he may not stick this year. However, he has improved enough to justify himself worthy of being a Griz in the eyes of the coaches. I for one, am pleasantly surprised in his improvement. This kid plays with heart, positive attitude, and works his ass off to be a GRIZ. He is the type of player every team needs for intangibles he brings that cannot be measured in stats. He is proving himself to be someone most sports fans can pull for, that is and was all I have been getting at with him. I and many other fans admire than in an athlete in any sport.

It is not for me or anyone to determine any player's playing time. That is determined by the coaches as is any player's status on any team. To this point in his short career, he is proving himself as an overachiever and late bloomer. What he achieves and how much he progresses is yet to be seen? However, I for one will not bitch about his being part of the GRIZ, neither will most of the griz roster, and definately not the coaches.

You are entitled to your opinion, as is anyone. However, calling anyone stupid for voicing their opinion or being indifferent from you is uncalled for. Please more considerate of fellow egrizzers. I will leave it at that and hope you respect that.

Thank you

Greg definitely does work his ass off; he is just about always the last one to leave practice as he often stays late to shoot jumpers.

Also, did anyone see how awful the student section was at that game? it was totally silent for just about the entire game.

Student section isn't going to be too crazy until the playoffs and the Holiday break is over. Once conference play begins they tend to get into it.

I've decided I can't take too much more of this inactiveness....it's a word now...I'm a student manager right now but all I do is hand out water and towels so I think i'm going to quit that and get back in the student section. I tried to get it going as much as possible last year by getting in the front row and standing with some buds every game.

I just can't stand to see people sitting the entire game so I'm going to quit the manager thing and try to get as many people to come with me and stand and yell at the western kentucky game.

Good for you! The Griz need students like you who want to be involved. You should go up to Griz Athletics and talk to the marketing people. I bet they let you be an intern, you could learn some things, get some credits, have a lot of fun, and help the Griz.

A friend and I already did that exact same thing last year. My friend and I sat in on the marketing meetings last year. My friend, who is a business major, became an intern this semester. I'm a journalism major so I'm working on filling out a kaimin app. Also just workin on a griz blog, in the sig. As of this minute, in line for griz-cat tix.
