GRIZ vs Diesel Mechanics VoTech

Colter talked about the basketball bouncing on the baseline. Can someone explain what he's talking about. I guess I don't follow what's supposed to happen and what did happen.

Colter didn’t describe that particular well. Late in the game with ewoooo in desperation and full court press mode, after a made ewoooo basket the officials should have gone to collect the loose ball and hand it to the GRIZ inbounder. Not a big deal in the scope of that shit show officiating really.

Colter DID do a great job of outlining how MONTANA repeatedly kept its cool against all the crap ewoo was doing. Kudos to TDC and the kids.

I was so befuddled, I did a horrible job of describing that. So when Eastern went into a full-court press with 1:42 left, Kim Aiken guards the in-bounder, who is usually Timmy Falls. After made baskets, it's the official's responsibility to pick up the ball and hand it to the baseline in-bounder if the in-bounder doesn't easily pick it up himself. The in-bounder CAN pick up the ball after a made basket and run the baseline. But sometimes, the ball is not in an easy place to pick up. Or the defender is in the way. Or a variety of things.

But on three occasions after an EWU make, Aiken - who is a pitbull and plays the role of villain PERFECTLY - was ready to roll guarding the in-bounder and the ball was just rolling along the baseline or on the court in one case. When the ball rolled on the court, Timmy can't go on the court to get it. The other times, he was often impeded or would've had to risk confrontation to go get the ball. Once, Aiken even hit the ball out of the in-bounder's hand before it was in bounds.

This is the example of lack of control. PICK UP THE FREAKING BALL and hand it to the kid. Don't let them play chicken in the heat of an intense basketball game, risk one or both breaking a rule and hurting their team.

As others have said, it's not about the amount of fouls. It was the complete lack of roster knowledge, coaching knowledge and the inconsistency of how the game was officiated. The technical foul on Kyle Owens at the end of the first half was just stupid. And it made the level of animosity in the arena rise. They called no less than 10 fouls on freedom of movement, but then in the last minute, EWU's Mason Peatling and UM's Mack Anderson were both literally knocked on the floor on lay-up attempts for no call.

I could go on and on and on. I have no rooting interest in these games. But objectively, that crew was just awful.

Good post, Colter. I agree with everything.

I was also astounded that Aiken was allowed to swat the ball out of the inbounder's hands. That -- by RULE -- is a technical. The entire game was simply astonishing.

But, this being the bsc and all, I'm suuuuuuuure everything will improve soon....

I can't figure out how Travis keeps his cool thru all these crappy Ref crews! EW coach finally could take no more and got his "T." I believe it is coming sooner then later that Travis will get his "T." Maybe even get so mad as to get thrown out of the game altogether. I believe it to be justified when it happens. He is one cool customer! Great job TDC!

That's a good example, after Ting up KO for the rim grab\backboard slap (dumb move by KO) that ref let that go. The Griz came out very aggressive on D (loved it) and were getting a little overzealous bodying guys up (Mac). A good crew pulls Pridgett and Peatling aside and tells them to knock the shit off. Instead they call the rinky dink touch stuff and swallow the whistle when guys get mugged at the rim. That's how it snowballs into the shit show it became. Really too bad.

I agree. What was with that no-call?

Later in game, Samuelson got bumped, fairly hard, 4 times on the same play, and the refs ended up calling him for a foul. Awful and incorrect call.

Carter got called for an offensive foul for standing there with Peatling leaning all over his back and pushing him. Hall of Shame worthy effort by those zebras.

I agree, but I didn't really feel that the refs let the game get out of control, i.e. the players get out of control (and then have to reign them in). I felt that the refs were so awful and inconsistent that they were the ones out of control. Also, the refs let the EWU coach run wild and presumably talk too much (I couldn't hear him).

Again, I didn't think the players were out of control and hammering each other.

The refs needed to make 15 less calls, about 5 more calls, and eliminate about 10 of their horrible calls. In my view.

While the heavyset bald black ref was by far the worst, and blew his whistle way too much, the other 2 were pretty weak too.

The refs should be embarrassed. The worst crew/officiating I ever recall seeing in Adams Center. As someone else said, not biased or one-sided, just awful.

Yeah that was so bad as to be laugh out loud funny, because what else are ya gunna do? When the whistle blew on that play Peatling was literally (in the accurate definition use of that word) LYING on DJC’s back.

In addition to all the horrible calls, it just reaffirmed my belief that Legans is the most annoying Big Sky coach, and his players follow suit. Lots of cheap stuff going on. Glad the good guys were able to move past it and get the W

Eastern is the best example I've seen of a team whose personality is a reflection of their head coach. Definitely not a good thing in this case
This is a great post. That guy is such a complete dbag. Can’t think of a bigger drama queen; has to be the biggest crybaby in the game. I don’t care how good he is, I would be embarrassed to call him coach. Who does he think that schtick is impressing? Refs? Recruits? Anyone not in red? Seriously? When has that shit ever worked?
But I guess he’s a good fit—epitomizes that program and their fan base. They’re all just victims, right?
When I think of TDC, I think “toughness” and that reflects in our team.
Leggins is the complete opposite. I think “whiney bitch.” But I guess that’s true for all ewe’s. Shoe fits...

I am concerned for the EAGS safety in that gym.

Does anyone else believe that GoldenShower is actually coach Leggins? Totally serious.
Think about it for a sec:
Who’s the whiniest ewe bitch you see on tv?
Now who’s the whiniest ewe bitch you see on here?

On the bright side it's great to see Vasquez relax out there. Coming off the bench has done wonders, hit his two triples, was very solid when Timmy fouled out and drained two FTs making it a 4 point lead late. Not to mention the gorgeous pass off the dribble to KO for the T flush. With Mac starting to show he can be a solid piece and KO making strides that's a nice preview of coming attractions.

If they’re not the same person, that merely proves our theory—that Leggins epitomizes that fan base or vice versa.

I can confirm they're not the same person. As proof, I offer that shower was posting his whiney ass shit on here at the very same moment that leggins was stomping both his feet in the center of Dahlberg arena's court, much like a tantrum-filled 3 year old.

I think it's simply a function of what being at ewoo does to your soul.

...falls third personal around 6:30...
...the most ridiculous foul call ever called...
...no contact..no foul..no reason..no nothing...
...right after that the game spiraled out of control...

... ...

Vasquez had a pretty nice game, those clutch FTs were especially important, but he still looks a bit timid on offense and I'd like to see him attack a bit more.

He hardly penetrated at all earlier in the season, a lot of pressure on him early when Timmy was hurt plus he's a true freshman. I was also hoping he'd attack more, I bet we'll see a lot more of it in the future. After all it is Pridgett and Manuel's team this year. Was listening to Tootell and Nuanez on the radio and they noted after not making a triple in the first 8 conference games Vasquez is 8 out of 10 from deep. That's progress. :thumb:

I considered that but I’m not so sure. I think there’s a delay on tv. Thought for sure I saw him on his phone during a break.

At least spell his name correctly. Coach Legans would never condone violent cheerleaders.
