Griz Victories vs #1 Ranked Team

Does anyone have a list of the times the Griz have beat the #1 ranked 1-AA or FCS team? I know they beat #1 Nevada-Reno at home in 1987.

Bobcat nation has the cats ranked number one every year. So the griz beat a number one team
Every year....

The sCats in Bozo 1 year right? 2011? Vacated but I'm counting it

Yup and the best part of that was that ESPN had already sent their Playoff Selection Show crew to Bozo for the bracket announcement the next day, fully expecting to be covering the overall #1 seed. Instead, they were covering a team that had just gotten beat down by their arch-rivals (again).

According to Wikipedia Marshall was #6.. Also has us playing #5 SFA at WaGriz and we were #8.. didnt remember that part

They were #1 in 96 though

2011 Cats
2008 JMU
1995 Marshall (I think)

Im not sure Marshall was #1 looks like they lost to App State and didnt even win the SoCon that year

Again this is Wikipedia and I am SUPER nervous contradicting Mr. Wahlberg :thumb:

All good, it's only been 20 years - I have no clue, maybe I was thinking they were #1 since they were the home team so to say, however Marshall always hosted the natty back then - even if their team wasn't playing in it.

I think the 1996 Marshall team was ranked #1 but alas the Griz didn't fare so well against Randy Moss, as we all know.

I remember 96 because they were ranked #1 and we were ranked #2 but when the playoffs were announced we were the #1 seed and they were the #2 seed.

I honestly don't know how you guys remember any of this stuff. Lately I feel like Kelly Bundy and every new fact I learn means I forget something else. ;)

The best part about beating JMU in 08 and the Cats in 11 as they were ranked #1 was that it was in their own house.

I remember 2011 fondly as I was at the game with my Brother-in-law who is a Cat fan, he tried to get me leave early as he couldn't take anymore. But I made him stay all the way till the end and watch them celebrate as the year earlier when the Cats beat us in our house he was at the game and made me stay and watch the celebration. I think I enjoyed it little more as it was such a beat down of the so called #1 team in the nation. LOL

GO GRIZ!!!
