GRIZ v. sac gamethread

The cats loss to UNC is HUGE. Not only would it have given us a game's cushion, but it would have given us the tie-break. As it stands now, the tie break will likely come down to RPI, which fortunately we lead.

But that loss pretty much forces the Griz to win-out. UNC has NAU at home, then 2 gimmies with ISU in Pokey and at home against Sac.

Perfect opportunity to get repetitions for Autry at PG. I give up trying to figure out his role and playing time. I am stymied on it.
One thing for sure........Wood certainly isn't the answer at PG. Jamar has far better ball handling and dribbling skills and helped with these significantly when Wood was at point. I too am mystified as to why Autry doesn't get more minutes. :? Hats off to Hutch tonight. He really rebounded and defended well. He may be a freshman, but he understands how to get and keep position under the boards.

Have to say I was pretty impressed with Hutchison. 7 rebounds in 11 minutes and solid defense. After Qvale got into foul trouble the Griz were really struggling rebounding and on defense in the paint. Hutch came in and put an end to that pretty quickly.

The Griz were getting out rebounded 13-7 before Hutch came in with about 8 mins to go in the first half. The score was 18-17. Hutch played the rest of the half and the Griz out rebounded Sac 14-8 in that 8 minute period, and outscored them 15-6. Hutch grabbed 6 of those rebounds in his 8 minutes in the first half and pretty much put a stop to Sac getting buckets inside.

Hope we see more of him when Qvale is in foul trouble or needs a break. He may not put up a ton of points, but he plays solid defense and knows how to get position for rebounds!

Speaking of Hutch, and our bigs, I believe Hutch/Reader combination will be very good. Hutch is solid defensively and sure looks like a promising rebounder. Reader, is a nice touch, offensive moves, and agility. Ward is a smaller combination of both, with his offense more coming on mid range jumpshots. After Qvale moves on, there will be a lot of pressure on these guys, a long with Selvig.

If Autry plays defense (or lack-of) each game the way he did in Flagstaff last Saturday, I have a good idea why he does not get more minutes!
