People who are disappointed baffle me. It's COLLEGE BASKETBALL. It's a huge, long, grind, and no team, not Duke, not the UCLA Dynasty Teams, not Michael Jordan's Carolina teams nor Patrick Ewing's Georgetown teams will or did play well EVERY NIGHT for 32 games straight. Not gonna happen, even in the sh--ty Big Sky. A win is a win in college hoops and a win by double digits is a GOOD WIN! EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.

As for Everett's comments on Rolls Royce, I personally do not think he's anit-athletics, just anti Griz football. Anyone who is insane enough to believe they had the power to suspend an NCAA DI football program for a season is, first off insane and living in some alternate universe, and secondly, would have a hard-time convincing me they are Pro-Griz FB. And BTW, I saw Dennison at many BB games back in the day.
I love baffling people. The team we just played is 4-9 in Big Sky, 6-15 overall, and 1-11 away from home. I am DISAPPOINTED. Sorry.

BFG, try this word in place of "disappointed" and you'll get a better response:

"Dissatisifed".

I think most of us are dissatisfied with the showing tonight. But disappointed?? C'mon, they're 13-0. Saying your disappointed in the Griz is a little like saying you're disappointed you're dating a bikini model and not a Victoria Secret model.

Good to see KJ play well. He still doesn't look comfortable with the jump shot, but he just does so much so well.

Wow. Stat-stuffers. Glad the boys are dis-satisfied with the W. In the end, I'll take an "ugly win" over a "pretty loss" any day of the week! Go get'em Griz!!

The win is a win attitude is maroon-colored. How you do something is important. The end justifies the means accepts any method as long as you win. If we were 13-0 against the ACC we could talk bikini's and models. I don't think we are dating Ugly Betty, but our girl friend is marginally homely given who we have been playing and how we played.

What is it? In the past five or six weeks the number one team in the nation has lost 5 times? And in the past week twice by unranked teams? I’m trilled the GRIZ keep winning!!!

What is the point of saying "if we were 13-0 in the ACC" At this point we are a very very special low major conf team that is on one HELL of a run! I dont know if you were at that game but at now point did i feel that game was ever in quetion. Even when it was 7 points with like 6 mins left we had that game in hand. We played a little sloppy this is true, but none the less a very easy victory. The main reason i am not dissatisifed is because we didnt shoot the ball extremly well lastnight. The ball movement was there, we were making the extra passes and hitting open guys but the jumpers werent falling like usual. Teams are going to have off nights shooting the ball and i can live with that. We had an off night in the mid range game and still shot 50 percent. I know directional coloradao isnt a great team and im not trying to say that they are, but sometimes you just gotta take the W, because like somebody stated top teams are dropping lik flies to teams im sure their fan bases would concider "ugly bettys or homely girlfriends". Congrats griz for tying the record and a very easy W agains Northern Colorado

It is a bit disconcerting that the Griz seem to be winning ugly. It is like they are not quite as good as their record indicates, and you wonder if a crash is around the corner (ala the Lady Cat's current disaster after their hot start).

On the other hand, as long as they have things to work on I believe it will keep them from getting complacent and they will keep up the intensity and work hard in practice. In the years past Griz teams have had a great game, or even a great week of practice, then came out in the next game and got their ass handed to them because they thought they won before they got on the court. Maybe struggling to put teams away will prevent that from happening this year. Or maybe they will get beat, and then will take it to another level as a result and be a better team for it.

I guess I have just watched enough college basketball over the years to know that double digit wins are the exception, not the rule.

The Griz just tied a record that has stood for, what, 45 years, and we're talking about how they aren't winning by enough.

However, I agree we have a very difficult stretch coming, and that we need to play better.

The only thing "ugly" about last nights win was that the Griz didnt cover the spread! Other then that, it was a thing of beauty in my eyes, as are all 1 point, 5 point, or 30 point wins.

My point was exactly as you have said. We are in a low mid major conference. Everettgriz's analogy was suggesting that we are dating either a bikini clad hottie or aVictoria secret model which were not. That would be something like the ACC. In other words, I felt his analogy was overstated.

So, just so I'm clear BigFork:

I presume you must also decry UM for playing and winning FCS football games, since the fact is that UM beats low-major programs there as well.

See, I just don't get fans that go all crazy for FCS "national" championships, but denigrate the basketball team for being a mid-major. Hell, at least the bastketball program is playing with the big boys on the same stage.

Yes, we're a mid major BB team. And what we're doing at that level is freakin' amazing. So, my point is still valid, even if you didn't find value in my analogy.

Not at all. In basketball we are in the same division, Division 1 as UCLA, Duke, and Oregon. In football we are not in the same division, FCS vs FBS. The mid-major moniker is just that a categorization not a Division of the NCAA.

Your reading way more into my past comments than is actually there. All I said was I thought we played ugly against a poor team, one that we should have put away numerous times. The Griz have found ways to win each time, but haven't put away some teams I thought we should have. Also I thought it didn't bode well for the future games when we have to play someone substantial. If that is your definition of denigration then, so be it. Criticism isn't allowed? I think the record is great, but misleading in terms of Division 1 basketball overall because that is what we play in, not the mid-major division of the NCAA which doesn't exist. I don't know, but I think Tinkle is probably happy with getting the record and the win streak but I don't think it was a performance he was very pleased with. That is just my opinion.

By the way speaking of the win is a win philosophy. This will probably bug you. In football I felt alright about the App State loss last year because of how we played and what I thought it meant about the rest of the season.

I have mixed emotions about lastnihts game, but overall i am happy with it. That game never felt like it was in doubt. We won by ten...we missed alot of jump shots that have really been falling all season...with just a hand full of those shots dropping we arent even having this discussion about not putting a team away. There were a few sloppy moments but really we were just a few of those jumpers away from a 16-20 point win which i think would satisfy people. That game was never in doubt and the game was not nearly as close as the score would indicate

Bigfork griz,

This is a rediculious comparison. Yes the griz played down to their competition but winning 13 games in a row is not easy. It doesnt matter who you are playing against it is difficult to win every game you play (especially when it is every teams only goal to beat you). For example Kansas who is one of the best teams in the nation just got beat by TCU who is not a good team at all. They would be a bottom team in the Big sky this year. It is not easy for teams to win consitantly. You need to give credit where credit is due. I am the first griz fan to come down hard for bad play and weak competition but in order for the griz to take any crap from someone like you they need to prove they are not as good as they seem and that is not the case. We are a very solid team with tremendious depth. This team wins wether it is pretty or not it is still a "W" in the colum.

I am not sure what ridiculous comparison you are talking about. The streak is definitely hard to do even against Big Sky teams. The streak was brought up by other people and I responded. My real statement was about the UNC game. Here is what I said.

"That was an ugly win. I would like to believe that we are a good team, but that game made me feel otherwise. Once and if we get out of the Big Sky competition we may be very average. I have my doubts about the Weber and Davidson games."

People were thinking I was attacking the streak and sacrilegiously offending the Griz. I was talking about the game. Wins can have bad attributes to them and some losses can be an asset to a team. This win left a bad taste in my mouth for what might happen later, even though it set a record. I made no initial reference to the streak. In my mind the game was too close with less than 3 minutes to go against a lesser team. We need to finish better or later against a good team we will get beat. After all it was a Game thread not a Streak thread.

Lose to a 200+ RPI team and still have a 9 RPI?! Fuck you RPI!

Reading about the football and basketball comparisons got me thinking about the attendance issue and something I don't recall seeing on here. Could it be that people go to the football because we know it matters because we have a real chance to be National Champs? And with basketball it always seems we fight so hard, only to be disappointed either in the Big Sky Tourney or the first game of the Big Dance. I know I will never give up, but I get extremely bummed when it happens and I am a HUGE fan. What about those casual fans that just don't care anymore? Maybe people have just gotten burned out with it(and of course add that to the other issues brought up before...student section, quarters to semesters and the reconfiguration of the arena).

too those people, we need to simply bring up. George Mason, Butler and Gonzaga. They all were once at our level. Infact worse. But there is some mid major schools that dont have a chance in hell to win the N.C that put up one of best crowds in basketball. Its all about creating an atmosphere. football games are fun beacuse people get crazy and wild and laugh. you can unleash and seem 100% normal. At basketball games that all ended after the zoo. It has shown promise and at times it is electric in there. However we need to do it on a normal basis. Look at the sideline crowd. Wayne flat turned aruond and looked at them all and pumped themn to stand up and cheer.....about 50% did. WTF!!! if more people stand and get loud....it will become the regular...just like it is with griz football games. if a group of 20-30 people were together and gettign crazy and loud. I 100% garentee most the area would follow suit!
