I'm so tired of getting fucked every time the GRIZ step onto a P12 court, especially in Washington. I swear that after we blew a ranked Stanford team off the floor, the decree went out: "Montana will never beat another P12 team. Understand that officials?"

Great effort. Montana was every bit as good, and probably 7-10 points better than Washington on a neutral floor (with neutral officiating).

You're a very good poster on this site and I enjoy reading your comments but when you look at the foul disparity it's hard to rationalize this game. I know it's out of conference basketball on the road but the foul disparity in this game is just fucking insane. The Griz had their chances and have themselves to blame but FFS that was not balanced officiating.

Yes they did. Shooting has been an issue all year.

But none of that takes away from the fact that the officials were AWFUL and completely one-sided, particularly the first ten minutes of the game, and the last 7 minutes of the game.

Look, I'm not blaming the officiating either. The Griz had their chances. I'm just asking for fair contest, and the Griz haven't had one of those on a P12 court since they blew out UCLA and Stanford, at which time the message was obviously made clear.

You can make mistakes yourself and still get fucked.

I'm still pissed about that charge foul called on Oguine with a minute left. Griz would be up by 1 with 1 min left if that was a no-call and that changes things quite drastically. Bah...always have to expect shit like that though when you're on the road against a power 5 conference opponent. All in all this not nearly as bad as the homer job that the Griz face against Washington a few seasons ago and the Griz had a chance in the end still.

Great effort by the Griz against a good Washington team on the road. 20 offensive rebounds.... That is awesome. Griz ended up +14 on the boards (the most Washington has been outrebounded by this season). There was no lack of hustle and the Griz D held Washington to the fewest points they've scored all season. Wish we could get a home and home with Washington...it would be awesome to get to play them here in Missoula.

Have to say I'm pretty happy with a 7-5 record in non-conference with good showings against some damn good teams on the road, a win over an ACC team (who is 8-5 right now and gave #18 West Virginia a good game) and a nice win over a good UC Irvine team who is picked to win the Big West (and who also beat Idaho the other day @Idaho). Wish we would've gotten a crack at UCLA. With PSU being very impressive, the Griz and other Big Sky teams pulling off some impressive upsets and close losses with the big boys, it's looking like the Big Sky has some serious talent this year. That's nice to see and the Griz will be right up there at the top battling it out for the top seed.

Raise your hand if you've heard this one:

- Griz play solid and scrappy and just keep hanging around and even take the lead a few times.

- Griz miss some free-throws here and there through the game and miss quite a few open looks, but in spite of all this, are still within striking distance.

- Griz have a chance to take the lead late, but instead of staying aggressive they begin holding the ball to milk clock instead of running their offense and aren't able to take the lead from a wild, contested shot late in the shot clock, or a turnover in the middle of the key. Spoiler, they don't take the lead.

- In spite of all this, they get a defensive stop and have a decent amount of time to get a shot off. Instead, they stall some more or turnover the ball trying to hurry up the court or take a shot.

- Another scenario is they hang onto the ball and get a shot but don't make it and get fouled. Hit a couple free throws, they can win. Spoiler, in some combination the freebies that are made or missed don't tie the game or give them the lead.

- The final scenario - they have an Okayish lead but aren't able to hit free throws down the stretch and fritter away a lead to a team that is making their free throws and not going random 3 to 6 minute stretches without scoring. The other team takes the lead and the 3 previous mentioned scenarios play out.

- TL;DR Griz hang tough or give up a lead then lose in the last few minutes.

Sound familiar? That's because this has played out the same way in every "play-up" game where they haven't been blown out of the building that they've played under Decuire in the last 4 years. Cal. Washington. Gonzaga. Penn State. Washington (again). It's happened in conference play too. Weber a couple times. EWU a couple times. EWU during the conference tourney. Probably a couple others I'm forgetting.

Look - Decuire coaches like crazy and his players keep fighting, no matter what. It's awesome being "in" these games. It is time to start winning them. Beating Pitt was a good step. As much as I'd like to see that happen, I'm not sure it will on a regular basis. ALL of Decuire's teams have struggled with consistently hitting open shots, making free throws and below average to poor final shot / end game management. Until these get better this will most likely continue. I'm afraid though, since this hasn't changed (so far) in the 4 years Decuire has been here, it may just be what it is...teams that are tough, selfless and play great D, but struggle down the stretch and lose games they "shouldn't" and aren't quite able to pull off the "upset."

I'd love to be proven wrong. Winning the conference tourney and getting to the Big Dance will be another step that Decuire's team needs to take - and take sooner rather than later.

I just try and not blame officiating. The Griz could have won that game outright if they hit shots. I am frustrated by this team but I hesitate to blame the ref's every game. That call on Timmy was bad, for sure, but they had opportunities. Man, if they could just shoot like, 1% better, this team would be 10-2.

Should have been 21. On MO's second miss, Akoh was perfectly positioned for the tip/board and putback, but got RUN OVER. Look, I understand officials tend to swallow their whistles at that point of the game. But Akoh went FLYING. It's hard to get a guy that big airborne, but he was damn near supersonic as he flew out of bounds. You just HAVE to call that, because it directly impacts the result of the game. That's not a touch foul 36 feet from the basket. That was the Griz player 1 foot from the basket about to score the go ahead hoop.

And the offensive foul call? The worst call I've seen in many years.

Absolutely. I'm on record saying many times this year that shooting will be this team's downfall.

That said, yes, officiating is terrible. But I'm not ready to give a pass to them when it is SO one-sided, particularly when I've seen it before in this building. Just as I'll call the Griz out when they shoot it poorly, I'll call officials out when they fuck us.

I didn't get to see a replay on the miss, but I did get to see Akoh all of a sudden way out of position like someone just bulldozed him out of the play or chucked him there. Kind of figured that he didn't end up there without a lot of help from a UW player.

Also agree that offensive foul call was awful and came at a VERY important time in a close game. 1 point lead with 1 min to go changes the game quite a bit. Instead UW has the ball with a 1 point lead and 1 min to go.

Still the Griz had a chance at the end and that's something that was robbed from them in a previous UW game (2013-2014 season I think). It wasn't as one sided as that game or some other Pac 12 games, but still was annoying especially with the timing of some of the calls and no-calls.

Decuire usually only goes. with a 8-9 player rotation. I've always thought it odd that he doesn't go farther down the bench for games that aren't in question the last 8-10 minutes.

“There’s so many teams doing that right now,” DeCuire said. “If you think about it, the top teams in the country probably only play seven guys anyway and probably only have 10 on scholarship. Those guys are going to play minutes and that’s what it is. I wonder that as well. Besovic has only gotten like 5 minutes all year but a couple of games he looked like a defensive giant. Could have helped tonight IMO
