Who is "Guff" and why is his/her word authoritative? Is he a retarded or did he also not read the link, on his his own website?

Wow........just wow!

Just what this board needs, another moron.

congrats leatherneckgriz99 you've just been added to hammers' list of people who now absolutley nothing about the game of football on the field, why? you ask because you didn't know the name of a university employee that works for the sports program, for your own sake leave this board now and don't look back otherwise be prepared to hear the words douchebag and jackhole alot when he comments on your posts.
if you don't believe me just go back and look at most of his posts' most of them are directed at realistic griz fans who dont't wear blinders and can see what's going on around the program, mostly good things but some not so good either just like any other program in the country.like i said don't want to piss him off cause if you don't already know he's 'BUTTE TOUGH' !!!.

Well, if the official UM colors are maroon (copper), gray (silver), and gold, I agree w/ that. Two neutral colors, black & white, can be figured in. Well, white not so much, as gray (silver) can fill in for white. For god's sake, let's never again have the burnt orange, yellow combination of the 1995 team. (Sorry for invading your nostalgia.) See my OP in this thread. For example, I can see a flat black helmet w/ either a gold or silver stripe down the middle. If a gold stripe, then a silver border. If a silver stripe, then a gold border. A maroon stripe could work, with either a silver or gold border.

Thing is, I wish I could download a uniform template & play around w/ my ideas & let the rest of you know.

Not even close I never use the term "jackhole" :o

Must be a NODAK thing.

He was wrong. End of story.

Maroon was substituted for copper in UM's official copper-silver-gold color scheme in letter sweaters and uniforms until 1967 when Coach Jack Swarthout replaced it with Texas orange, a color change that lasted until the end of the 1995 season. Today maroon and silver are the official colors of UM’s branded line of clothing.

Uh oh, Hammer...that's two sources against your one, mysterious buttbudy "guffy"...how will you squirm out of this one? :thumb:

I don't know why I'm replying to what HAS to be an elaborate troll, ("Who's Dave Guffey" Really!?), but I think you're suffering from reading comprehension fail here.

The very quote you linked to states that Maroon was used all the way up until 1967 at which time they substituted Orange for the Maroon which itself was a proxy for copper SINCE INCEPTION of the university. Maroon was the color they chose to represent the element of Copper.

Exactly. They used it to represent copper, the official and original color, which is the point I'm trying beating into your addled minds. And youre not using the word troll correctly when you use it to label anyone who disagrees with you.

I saw a lettermans jacket from the 20's and it was all maroon with a silver M on it.

Like I said, talk to Guffey about it. Seriously dude, you are very wrong.

That's cool, but I saw a uniform from 1906 that was all copper with hand stitched gold and silver embroidery around the M. The only maroon on the entire garment came from the blood of a young Montanan who was giving his all for the COPPER, SILVER and GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!
