GRIZ/UNC thread

Niiiiice win on the road! Griz win it by 11, 71-60.

UNC has been pretty tough at home, losing only twice there all year. And although they've only got 2 BSC wins, they've lost twice on the road in OT, and lost to the cats in a very close game Thursday. This is a nice win.

Get two more next week and the Griz are rolling.

Two Game winning streak.

a very tough Portland state next up

we lacked the killer instinct when we were up by 23 .

NIce win.

I tend to agree with you on the "killer instinct", and think it's been a problem for this team all year. However, it's difficult to hold large leads, especially on the road. EWU lead msu by over 20 and ending up losing in Bozeman today. Winning ANY game by 11 on the road in this conference is a fantastic result.

nice win griz, good job not falling apart during their run. gave up some points but held on with pretty good ft shooting. now keep it up.

Nice win by the Griz. Of course, being at the Lady Griz could not follow this game at all.

But, there were career highs by Strait with 12 rebounds, by CET with 13 points, and Qvale with 6 blocked shots.

Griz shot well from the freethrow line, making 16 of 22 for 72.7%. CET is majorly responsible for this going 8 - 9.

the overall stats on www.montanagrizzlies.com are finally up to date for the men's statistics. Somebody responsible for them must have read my rantings about that recently. Should not have to go to bigskyconf.com to get accurate stats for the Griz.

1 road win (I say the one against Eastern Washington), and protect home court, Griz have a very good chance of getting into the conference tournament. But, protecting home court and winning two road games will be pretty much a lock to get into the conference tournament. I think the Griz can win any of the remaining road games. Griz may need to win more than 2 on the road to get a lock, because that home game with NAU is what I consider the toughest test at home.

I believe the two wins this week released a lot of pressure. Griz will now start playing their game and get into the tournament. I predict a 4th or 5th seed.

lurking in the stats is an ugly reality: turnovers equalled assists. you can win this way, you can even win when you have more turnovers than assists, but if you look at the great teams or the big blowout wins of the type we had against nevada, you generally see way more assists than turnovers. the likely suspects in either case: your guards. i'm thrilled we're goin' big, but we still need one or more of our guards to step it up down the stretch.

It's not the guards. They're making TOs as well but if the game against EWU was any indication, the bigs are making a lot too. With this lineup we run a set that often leaves a big making a pass down low from the top of the key. It clears up space down there for the other two to go to work. Problem is, they don't quite have the touch and sometimes the passes go out of bounds.
