Griz team

I'm not close enough to any inside info but watch enough to be thoroughly confused. I can't figure out rotations---minutes--- To me it all seems based on punishment--- for not doing something right--- It seems to lead to an apparent lack of confidence--- a lot of looking over shoulders. I can't imagine that's the intent. Coach K admits that he's never satisfied--- I hope it doesn't eventually lead to damoralized players that are afraid to shoot-- He seems to only give green lights to play freely very sparingly--- most recently to Farr--- but he's not a great shooter. Does anyone know something I don't.

The only instances I can think of where punishment is involved was when Davis and Farr were late for the bus.

I have seen Matt Martin make the most awful showboat pass out of bounds that had Krysko jump up in the air 10 feet from agrivation watching Matt make that pass, but did Krysko take him out for that play? No. Don Holst would have taken him out in a heart beat.

Krysko is, IMHO, more supportive and patient with the players than Kennedy or Holst. He is also very positive with them while still not sugarcoating things with them. He is also a good motivator, and thus, I really do not think the players are going to get so down on themselves as they did last year.

Problem, and possibly a weakness of Krysko at this time, is finding a lineup that really works and Krysko is finding it tough to find the perfect (or as perfect as it will ever get) lineup.

Just my theory, but I grew up in Missoula during the late 1970's and early 1980's, same time as Krystkowiak . We had a great coaching and playing tradition at the time, with the likes of Craig Zanon, John Stroeder, Derrik Pope, Krisko himself, etc. Every one of them took the game extremely seriously, and it meant something to be a b-ball player for the Griz at the time. I think Krystkowiak is just realizing how far the team fell over the last few years, and he is striving to get the Griz back to the work ethic and pride of being a Griz b-ball player. Remember, though Krystkowiak had huge talent, but it was his work ethic that got him all american honors, nearly got him on the Olympic team coached by Bobby Knight and definitely got him several years in the NBA.

If anyone can reinstill the pride of Grizzly b-ball, Krystkowiak can, but the imposition of necessary discipline and dedication among the players is going to be a bit rough during the transition, particularly when he is dealing with a complete lack of discipline instilled by Kennedy during his short time here.

I feel that the Griz are making progress. They have played some tough
teams; Coach K is trying to figure out who can play. Support the Griz.
