Griz "Stole" CCU Seed

If the Griz "stole" the seed, they are certainly welcome to try and take it back come Saturday.

Whether they like it or not the conference they play in is going to play a part in the seed that they get. Works that way in basketball too. The committee looks at several factors when choosing who is going to be seeded. They have their own rating system, strength of schedule, and very likely the strength of the conference the team plays in (along with other factors) that help them decide who gets seeded.

I wonder what would happen if you took a team that barely missed the playoffs from one of the tougher conferences like the Big Sky, MVC or CAA and stuck them in the Big South. Take the Bobcats, William & Mary or Northern Iowa and put them in the Big South and I doubt they'd lose a single conference game.

Look at Stony Brook for example. 21-3 over their last 4 years in the Big South. They move to the CAA and this year they're 5-6 overall with a 3-5 conference record.

Not saying CC has no chance against the Griz, just pointing out that conference strength likely plays a pretty big part in which teams get more serious consideration for seeds in the playoffs. Look at the 8 seeds this year... all but 1 from the traditional "power" FCS conferences.

Shows what they know about the seeding process. As I was told seeded teams actually keep a lot more of the ticket revenues than teams that bid for playoff games (first round home teams). If the NCAA really wanted "our money" they would have given CCU (or more likely NAU) the 8 seed.
