Griz ST

I've seen elsewhere on EGriz that Hauck should be the punt returner because he is sure-handed and Fontes has fumbled the kick several times. Our ST play has generally been the one part of the game where we have dominated. It is something that Bobby Hauck can definitely coach better than most.
We need to dominate this part of the game to be successful and having Robby Hauck sit back and just call fair catches really takes away an important tool we have. With our O often having difficulty moving the chains - Punt Returning is essential to us controlling the game.Kickoff returns are few and far between thanks to our stellar Griz scoring D.
So the question is - should Fontes get another chance? Should we be passive and just let Hauck call fair catches? Why isn't Malik Flowers doing this? or someone else?
I know we lost Sulser but we need some Offense from our ST play, IMO

Depends on how the game is going but in general agree we should take a risk. Risk / Reward of some big returns versus a potential fumble, I say let our guys do what they do well, set up big returns!

Here are the stats. Hell yes Robby needs to be back there in this game. He catches it, holds on to it , has the longest punt return of the year and second highest average only to Sulser.

PUNT RETURNS No. Yards Avg Long TD
Fontes,Aaron 8 56 7.0 0 16
White,Keelan 8 76 9.5 31
Sulser,Gabe 6 75 12.5 27
Hauck,Robby 6 66 11.0 34
Janacaro,Levi 1 28 28.0 28 1
Total.......... 29 301 10.4 34 1
Opponents...... 18 49 2.7 0 9

I trust Coach to make the best decision for us to win.
If it was up to me, I would have RH back there for his overall experience in this big game.
Having either of the other two freshman this week handling punts could prove to be too big for the moment.
Go Griz!

Based on these stats, I see no reason why Janacaro should not be back there catching a punt or two. 1 touch and 1 touchdown! I mean those numbers speak for themselves. Let the big man feast.

Ha! His play still might be one of my most memorable from this season.

I prefer him on the line trying to get his "punt return" the way he got that one. :thumb: :thumb:

I bet he won't field another punt this year.

Fielding punts is not a play on which we should be making gambles.

So what part of the game do we have an advantage?
Several. Re. punt returns, RH is just fine back there; 11 yards/per return, doesn't get shook like Fontes did. Makes good decisions. Our best bet without Sulser. This is a game that TOs could have huge impact on the outcome.
