Griz Soccer 2026

I’m okay with a more compact roster if we can stay healthy—but are quality walk-ons a thing in women’s soccer? Asking for a friend
I believe there were a few students who trained a few weeks in spring looking to make the roster but may not have been a good fit (I would have considered them walk-ons).

Is anyone able to make it to the fields to let us know how fall practices look?
Walked around the park and glanced at the field, but ended up watching for a while. The team looked good, and Gore brought positive energy. They appear to have several quick forwards and strikers who can finish, some tall, strong-looking defenders with speed and awareness, excellent pace from the back and midfield going forward, and focused goalkeepers. It was encouraging to watch. The team seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves, and they should only improve as the season progresses.

If everyone stays healthy, this team may have a very solid chance this season IMO, despite some of the naysayers. I would be interested to hear what others who have seen them think.

Can you tell how are they doing with their movement, passing, and ball possession?

Are they playing well within the structure of the offense?

The movement, passing, and possession looked good. For a practice with limited contact, they connected and moved better than I expected after only a week together. There were a few minor issues through the midfield, but nothing concerning or unlikely to improve with greater familiarity and full 11v11 play.
