I made most of the scrimmage tonight - first I should say that I couldn't evaluate talent if it slapped me in the face, so take my observations with a grain of salt, but not knowing what I am talking about has never stopped me before so...
Chavez was there and played quite a bit. I really hope he makes his grades, he can be a great player.
McKay was listed on the roster but I didn't see him - anyone have any info on this?
Lynch and Martin split most of the time at point, and looked about even to me. Later they played together with Martin at point, so I assume he has an edge at this point. Matthews also played point, and he looked faster and more athletic than either Lynch or Martin, and might be better at breaking the press, although Martin seemed to control the ball better, and had the best defense IMO. Matthews also seemed to be having the most fun.
Dloughy is the most athletic guy on the team, and although he made some mistakes I think he will see a lot of playing time.
Seyfert still seems reluctant to pound inside on offense, although at the end he seemed better.
Hasquet and Strait played well, and both seemed to be willing to play physical. Hasquet surprised me with how well he played vs. what I expected. The only criticism I had of Hasquet is he seemed to stand around a little if he wasn't directly in the play. He also seemed relaxed and having fun out there. I think these 2, with Dloughy, Matthews and Criswell would make a great transition team.
Criswell doesn't seem to be having fun, it seems like he is putting too much pressure on himself. Hope this improves so he can relax and shoot like he did 2 years ago.
Wilkins seemed to struggle all night, and was corrected several times by the coaches, and generally looked out of sorts. Low point for him - he complains about a call with a ref  If he doesn't improve I don't think he will see a lot of playing time.
Rich Stapleton had his own fan club

he could be a fan favorite as he comes in at the end of games. Even I was hoping he would hit that 3 at the end (airball), and I had never heard of him before tonight.
Most of the players seem very comfortable with the coaches. All I heard from the bench was encouragement, even when the players made a mistake. Easley needs to keep playing after a mistake and not look to the bench so much.
I don't know what to say about Farr - he played a lot, looked athletic, but I found it hard to think of anything good or bad to say. :-?
They need to work on free throws, although they got better as the scrimmage progressed.
Overall I was encouraged, especially with the young players. If Chavez sticks with the team and Seyfert can get more physical they could be pretty good this year. If not, and the Griz can get a true center in the next year I think they will be very good in 2 years.
