Yeah......so what's your point?

I assume the point is that the move was not financially motivated. It is assumed that a Doctor can afford the tuition for his son and that Jordon is not leaving because he needs more financial aid elsewhere.

Funny, I did not see anywhere in the thread that mentioned he could not afford to attend UM. What I did see is that he was promised a scholarship if he proved he was a scholarship caliber player and that is what motivated him to go elsewhere. I think it was seen more as a slap in the face...but that is just me.

Geezus that's creepy... and probably irrelevant. Maybe Daddy isn't giving the kid a dime for college because he wants him to feel the satisfaction of paying his own way. Or maybe Daddy offered to pay but the kid said "no thanks, I can do this on my own." Or even if he doesn't need the schollie $$, maybe it's a pride thing where he feels he's getting shafted. I've heard of jock sniffers but some of the things I've seen with the griz program are flat out bizarre.

Because there's no examining the motivations of outgoing Bobcats over on BCN or anything. Or intrusive threads into one Tanner Roderick.

Like most things on this board, it does take a convoluted twist. This has started with a statement that Harper left the team over a supposed broken promise. Many were speculating that it was in response to the broken promise. I theorized that it might be financial. Other's postulated that it might involve Delaney's grandson keeping his book money. The latest turn is that PlayerRep searched and found the Parent's occupation. None of this has been verified, and there has been wild speculation and accusations.

Sounds like a normal day at the egriz ranch to me.

Uh... I know of no other posters that continually snoop around to learn more about players and their families, such as what Daddy does for a living to see if the kid needs scholarship money.

All I know is we lost a good football player. We lose to many more and we will have a long, painful fall.

Oh it's already long and painful, most of these idiots just don't know it yet........and it's going to get worse soon.

:coffee:

Yet in a different possibility maybe PR's private dick (as opposed to his public one) got information for PR to create a secret list of privately wealthy kids who didn't scholarships (or so poor got large pell grants) that the staff could pull their support, but they would play anyway. The plan backfired when the first one called the bluff.

Incidentally an ER doc with a 20 year old kid is probably making student loan payments larger than most house payments..........

But of course it is. It's all going to go to hell. I'm not even going to pick up my season tickets from the mailbox. Screw it.

That would be my guess. One minute you are a scholarship player, part time starter as a sophomore, 3rd on the team in TD receptions, had a very good year at the TE position and seemingly on the track to be a major contributor (and likely starter) your Junior and Senior seasons. Next minute you're told you are losing that scholarship, being offered either a partial or none (do we know for sure he was offered a partial?) and basically shown you are no longer needed.

That would be quite the slap in the face and pretty surprising...especially after the controversy last year with some scholarship money going to a relative.

I realize we lost some scholarships so stuff like this should be expected, but I sure wasn't expecting it to be someone like Harper.

Who are the TE's on full scholarships right now? We know Saylor in on scholarship. I don't know either Saylor or Harper personally, nor the dynamics beyond what I see on the field. So anyone who knows more, please add to this or make this more accurate.

Harper is younger with more upside than Saylor (3 years of eligibility remaining verses 1 year of eligibility left). Harper is more experienced at TE. Harper was much more productive and beneficial in our offense. Harper demonstrated during games he can make great catches and a great Red Zone threat. Granted, I don't know how well Saylor has progressed from injury or improved at TE (my hope is improvement and great health.).

Is it not the coaches responsibility to field the best team possible? Just based on the little we do know of Harper and Saylor, how can anyone think Saylor makes the team better than Harper does? Saylor and the other TE's had better damn good quickly for this decision to even make some sense. I honestly feel Delaney did not make the best decision short or long term for the program regarding Harper. With that said, I hope the remaining TE's produce, make Delaney look good, and this is not debated or doubted when the 2014 season is over.

To me, this decision has caused a larger and better microscope to be used in evaluating Delaney's future beyond this year. The spot light just got a little brighter as well. I don't feel good about Jordan Harper leaving the team.

Delaney could have a deal that said I can only give you one third -- PLUS the book money I was giving my relative. that kid won't do much more than hold a blocking dummy...

Good move by Delaney. He has to make some tough cuts and this is a position that needs a makeover. Harper is a 1/3 scholarship type of player. Next up.

says the guy who knows nothing.........

On the advice of the oracle who knows all.

I hope lack of a scholly was not the real reason a montana kid leaves college and the chance to play for the Griz.

I don't know all, but I can see how somebody like you would think that. The difference is I add to the conversation and jag offs like you just take shots at me then wonder why I am a major league fu*kface.

I am happy either way.....but you guys cry a lot about the same shit you do to other posters.
