Griz schedule future home and home with Incarnate Word

At some point standing still will become a move down when the FBS splits into 2 tiers. The FCS, essentially the second tier in college football, will become tier 3 after an FBS split. It practically is already.
I don’t agree. FCS will likely still have the same scholarships and playoffs and will be affordable, even if the Big 4 split off. UM had not way to move up now, nor should it. UM isn’t going to be D2.

What do you think will change for UM or FCS if the Big 4 splits off? Let’s see you spell it out.

Standing still is not moving down. That’s just a cliche.

Griz are associated with SDSU and NDSU. Pretty good company. Better teams than many you aspire to play with. You don't appreciate what UM has, and seem to want to ruin what Griz athletics have.
You have to cherry-pick to make that statement. The really bad programs UM is associated with far outnumber NDSU and SDSU.

No cherry-picking by me. The last 2 teams the Griz played this year. Look at the pre-season polls, to see who the Griz are associating with. You are the cherry-picker.

I don’t think that’s true. Yes, we have some dogs in our conference. EVERY conference has those and you can’t help the guilt by association there. But with 18/20 of the last 10 NC games being represented by just 3 conferences, and 13/15 (I believe of the last winners coming from the MVFC, I think PR is correct…it’s now (finally) who we’re associated with again…we are talked about in the same sentence as them. I don’t consider us being associated with teams in the SoCon, MEAC, NEC, Patriot, etc. Those teams are here for fodder.

You obviously played the game.

The Griz are mostly associated with their conference members. We play UNC and PSU before 4000 in high school stadiums.

I hate our conference as much as you, but this is just a bad take.

Is Alabama mostly associated with Vanderbilt?

Is Ohio State mostly associated with Indiana?

There’s bottom feeders in every conference. They can’t ALL be Ohio State.

They can’t ALL be Montana.

Clearly you never played the English game, as you failed to note the future tense of my post.

Nope. You are wrong. SDSU and NDSU.

And those schools don’t have high school stadiums. You have oViolt never been to the stadiums.
I go to the game at UNC every time we are there. Do you? It's a joke; there are far better HS stadiums in MT. But you are right in that I have never been to the Hillsboro High stadium in OR. Never will.

Well to be fair the bison play in a barn that they rent and average 15000 fans a game, and though SDSU averages 18000 for regular season games they only average around 6000 for a playoff game. You know who else outdraws both of those teams on average? Tarleton State, and Alabama State. Half the SWAC makes up half of the top ten on the attendance list. You have to get to the top 25 to get half the big sky and down to #39 on the list to add in Weber. EWU is right in the middle at 67 and the only thing they have going for them is the red turf and though unique to them, it’s impossible to watch a game on for the majority of fans.

To whomever (Everett or Kem) made the point, UNC and PSU rank 102 and 111 in attendance respectively out of 128 teams. There’s clearly a difference between the bottom and top of the conference in facilities and support and a good portion of the the FCS should be D2 or lower still or going forward. The top of FCS is still competitive, but that bottom half is sure getting watered down.

Also, nice to get picked to have a nationally televised network game every year as well just because there’s only a handful of programs, schools, and facilities that the conference wants to show off. Nobody is signing up to put PSU at UNC on an ESPN2 on a Saturday night. They wouldn’t even put such a thing on a Friday night over the high school games they broadcast. And the conference clearly doesn’t want to show a non-competitive blood-letting game either.

Another good reason for a few to move out of the FCS.The griz would see even more attendance if they moved up and built more seats. Would not the attendance make up for the few playoff games they may or may not host ? Like HELLINAHANDBASKET said its all about money and premoting the university.I got some news for the university if they played better teams they would recruit more students. They need to do something because they no longer have a hook like MSU which will outpass UM in student reruitment for the forseable future.MSU has worked on building desirable programs that students want to attend.UM not even close.

Even attendance pre game won't necessarily go up at the FBS level. I think attendance could decline. UM attendance is already very high and prices are already high.

There would be fewer home games in FBS. Certainly not 9 home games like 2023, and at least 7 home games in 2024.

In 2023 fiscal year, UM had 6.5 million of ticket sales (I don't think that was last season). In 2023, Boise St. had 7.7 million. MSU 5.3 million. Boise had expenses of 60.6 million. UM had expenses of 25 million. Knight website.
