CET was huge down the stretch making the the throws. The Sac announcer (before BigRipOffTV went down) was saying over and over that CET was who Sac needed to foul. Proved that dude wrong.

I am happy with the result tonight at least. I too am very encouraged by the stats, many assists, rebounding dominance, good fg %, clutch ft shooting, even scoring, both bigs got a double double. Only negative I have is, too many turnovers.

I look forward to detailed summaries from anyone at the game GB1, KADEEZY, Superhornet, Anyone?

Sounds to me CET and Martin both stepped up in all facets, and Rundles played under control. Also they got the ball to the bigs. Look at the assist totals for CET, Martin, and Stauds. Very impressive stats. I have no idea who said or did what, but a few turnovers aside, that is the kind of guard play and team play we need every game. :thumb:

Overall I'm happy, especially with the D against the 3 and rebounding. Still plenty of issues, however. Ball protection (especially late in the game) is an issue. Still, a nice road win, and those are the keys to winning this conference.

Tinks commenting on making plays, making stops, getting rebounds, and making FTS. Also liked the shot selection overall, aside from 2 shots he said. I can hear Tinks smiling while commenting on this game. He sounds more like Tinks I know and have worked with. Very encouraging, but still have to work on TOs, Tinks just mentioned it too. 19 assists on 24 FG's. That is GRIZZLY basketball folks. :thumb:

Good to see we were able to snap that 8 game losing streak. I threw out Montana Tech cause they don't count. Hopefully Elgin-Taylor will bring some much needed backcourt leadership.

Let's get home, get loud, get some wins, and take control of this conference. I still believe we have the most talent.

Impressive stats:

Hasquet, Jordan f 5-10 1-3 8-11 11 2 2 19
Strait, Andrew c 5-7 0-0 3-4 12 1 3 13
Rundles, Cameron g 3-5 3-4 0-1 0 0 2 9
Staudacher, Ryan g 3-7 3-7 0-0 2 4 2 9
Elgin-Taylor, Ceylon g 1-4 0-1 8-11 6 6 3 10
Martin, Matt 4-7 2-5 0-0 3 6 3 10
Sharp, Kyle 3-5 0-0 0-1 2 0 2 6

Not only CET stepped up at Guard but so did Martin. I commend Wayne for playing the guards contributing to the team most. Granted Rundles contributed too. I will take that guard play every game, points aside. I am sure Tinks and the post players are happy as hell. I hope they remember this game and the feeling of playing team ball. Great balance. Everyone playing their respected roles.

Just got home from the game.

First thing I wanted to address was the speculation by someone that the team was not paying attention to Tinks during timeouts. I paid very close attention, and nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I think they were even more attentive than at UOP and Santa Clara. Tinks huddles up with his assistants for 15 seconds or so, which gives the players time to get a drink, towel off, etc, and then it is all business. I thought Tinks made some excellent play calls out of timeouts. The only area I think needs work is the in-bounds plays toward the end of the game when Sac went full court man to man. Players were so bunched up that it was fairly easy for Sac to double and triple team. They were digging and clawing at the ball and a couple of the turnovers and held balls were fouls, that didn't get called.

Officiating- It was not the best, but the Griz did a pretty good job not letting the no-calls get to them. Martin got hit in the face twice, and knocked on his ass once, and didn't get a call on any of them. Hasquet was mugged several times in the paint, yet no call. The Hornets got some calls that were obvious flops or touch fouls, but to the Griz credit, they didn't whine, they just played. The only player who even looked at the Refs was Martin when he almost had his jaw dislocated by an elbow, and he got called for a foul.

I thought the whole team played very hard for 40 minutes. There was about a 6 minute stretch toward the end of the 1st half where the guards were dribbling too much, and not getting into the offense until 10-12 seconds were left on the shot clock, and the result was a hurried shot. Tinks got that corrected very quick.

I thought it was a team effort. Cam showed some signs, even though he made a couple real sloppy passes, he didn't hang his head, played hard on D, then knockled down some 3 balls. Stads was very steady, and is probably the Griz best player at making the entry passes. Jordo and Strait were very solid. You coul dsee a lot of resolve in these guys eyes tonight, like they were not going to let Sac win, period. The guys had each others backs, and that was nice to see.

Matt Martin played very well off the bench. He did a little bit of everything and showed some Sr Leadership. I didn't see a negative look on his fae tonight, just the look of disbelief when he got smashed in the face and didn't get a call. CET was a little shaky his 1st five free throws, then knocked the rest down with a lot of confidence. Kyle Sharp was very solid off the bench. Qvale didn'tget any minutes tonight, but Sac was much more athletic and I don't think he could have stayed with his man. Drew, Jordo, and Kyle had a tough enough time, and they have a lot more experience.

Sac State plays very unorthodox on offense, they are very athletic, they get after you on D. They are not a team you can just pencil in a W. It was nice to see the Griz rewarded for staying with it, not pointing fingers, and just playing basketball. They hustled for 40 minutes, played team ball, and earned the W.

Anyway, nice win for the Griz. :twocents:

Mike Warhank provided color commentary with Mick tonight. I thought he did a great job.

He was VERY good, might want to think about doing that full time.

Got a chance to visit with Hank tonight. He likes doing the color, but is living in CA so a couple guest appearances a season is about all we will get from him. Great guy.

GB1, that was the summary I was waiting for. Thank you tons!

Now just want to hear something from Kadeezy and superhornet, or anyone that was there.

I am glad your review was about as I posted online from listening. Thanks again.

the griz played well tonight. cet played pretty well as did matt and cam. the turnovers were too many though although spread around. jordo strait, cet, matt with 3 each, r yan with 2 and cam and sharp with 1 + 1 offensive foul. matt showed good leadership and cam really had what would have been 4 to5 assists but all his great passes into strait hasquet had to turn into freethrows for them because they were fouled. hasquet struggled abit in the first half shooting but made his freethrows and really hustled and played great the 2nd half. strait was better in the second half also. sharp was a great spark

I expected this win. But, if they lost, this thread would be up to 5 pages of bitching and moaning about Tinkle not being able to coach and the players not listening or paying attention, or being selfish, and all that other negative stuff that was said.

Anyway, this is just 1 game. The Griz have to continue to build on this win and learn from it. Maybe now, they will know how to handle a lead in the second half, or what it takes to get over the hump, and play 40 minutes. Now, They will have to do it against better teams.
