One positive in Sneed being out, the importance of developing a better running game has emerged. Even with Sneed at QB, that was needed for this GRIZ team to truly emerge as National Championship contender (top 4-6 FCS team). Earlier this season, I posted the offense had room for improvement still, by developing a running game, capable of controlling a game, when and if needed.
We truly got just that in the EWU game. The running game absolutely wore down EWU. EWU's defense was gassed in the 4th quarter. That was a classic throwback to Bobby Ball 1.0!!! It was nice to see, and very much needed against EWU.
Now, the question is, can the GRIZ prove to do this consistently and against upper level defenses? At this stage, they have laid the foundation, and found some confidence in doing it. Next, take that confidence and build on the foundation. If the GRIZ can do that, can you imagine how dominant this offense can be against any kind of defense, upon Sneed's return??? Like it or not, a great running game will be essential in the FCS playoffs, with adverse weather. Keep adding more to Cam's plate, and building the run game, that is a recipe for success!!!
