Montana is reportedly in pursuit of a couple of highly regarded junior college bigs to anchor the Griz front court next year.

Just announced today is a reported scholarship to 6'-10"," 180 lb PF Chris Boucher of Northwest College in Powell, WY. Boucher, a jc soph, played prep ball at Alma Academy in Montreal, Quebec and -- last fall -- was named 2014 NJCAA National Player of the Week (October 31, 2014) for his efforts at Northwest. Other schools with scholarship offers to Boucher are: Oklahoma State, Utah State, Idaho State and Texas Christian.

Info on a second player initially identified in this thread may have been inaccurate, so I've edited this post to reflect that.

GrizWhiz: I try to confirm three sources before posting (in the case of juco players, JucoShowcase.com and JucoRecruiting.com). I got the info this time from a coach's twitter thread, checked for it this morning to verify. No luck.

I cannot verify info on the second player, so I deleted that info from my initial post. My sincere apologies for posting information that may have been inaccurate.

Weight room and dining room!

So far this year Chris Boucher is averaging 21.2 Points, 9.9 Rebounds, 4.2 Blocks through 18 games. He's had 3 30+ point games so far this year. Here are his stats from the NJCAA site.

31 pts, 17 rebounds, 7 blocks vs Bismark State

32 pts, 12 rebounds, 11 blocks vs United Tribes Technical College

39 pts, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks against Gillette College

The previous year he played for New Mexico JC and had decent numbers in about 20 mins per game (about 12 points, 7 rebounds I think).

He along with his close friend William Desilien transferred from New Mexico JC where they weren't pleased with playing time. Sounds like from this article they've played basketball together for quite a long time and preferred (at the JC level anyway) to be on the same team.

Makes me wonder if a team offered Desilien (a shooting guard) if they'd have a better shot at grabbing Boucher. Desilien is averaging 21.7pts, 2.6 rebounds, 4.9 asissts, and shooting 47.5% from 3, 89.8% FT, 56,7% FG. So he's pretty damn good too. Here are his stats from the NJCAA site. Both are top 20 in scoring at the JC level.

Given the other offers this young man has (TCU, Utah State, Oklahoma State) and his accomplishments this year at the JC level, I would take him just as is. :thumb: He obviously has a slender frame and 180 lbs. may be just right for him.

Kevin Durant has proven a tall thin build can be successful. I would like to see us land this kid.
