Calhoun, Range And Green would be the best trio in the BS...
Calhoun, albeit very good, but with a concussion history and two unproven prospects = "best in the BS'? That is, to use your term, BS, my friend.

Everybody who has had one concussion has a concussion history. Many medical experts think football players should never step foot on the field again after ONE concussion. Calhoun has had two in his Griz career. I don't presume to know about his high school career. But I would say, since he is choosing to return to the Griz for his junior season, and has obviously been cleared by doctors to do so since he played in the Cat-Griz game, I think it's unfair to put some sort of "damaged goods" label on the kid when he hasn't had any more concussions than thousands of other college football players around the country, including on his own team. There are more kids on the 2017 Griz' roster than just Calhoun who have had two concussion.
If you saw his second concussion (of this past) year, it was a surprise he played again.

Actually I saw it from the Griz sideline.

Payton, I know it might be really hard to gauge, but how likely do you think it will be that Range does indeed sign with the Griz?

True... a lot can happen in 6 weeks... but I would put it at 80%

What makes you so confident that Range will sign? I haven't been following it very close, has he made any indication of this? If we get that guy, and he is healthy and ready to go for game 1, it makes me much more optimistic for next year.

Can't really share too much, but I feel pretty strongly about this based on info I have.
He remembers how UM believed in him before anyone else and has kept an eye on UM since his injury.

That being said... this is recruiting and I will be holding my breath until he does sign.

two things to think about with range...1. do we know his acl has been fully rehabilitated ? 2. his academics seem to be somewhat of an issue... this may be the reason we have a shot at him from what I read.....I do agree with payton, if well, this guy could turn the league (griz football team) upside down...at 6'1" and 225 lbs, fast and tough runner inside, shifty ....he has great potential....of course potential and $1.95 will buy you a cup of coffee at 7-11....just have to wait it out....

Is a coffee really a $1.95 at 7-11? Dang.

Well academics can't be the reason he decommitted from Texas Tech. I mean, both of MY kids are going there, and they accept something like 90% of applicants.

I think a healthy Range will be the best back in the BSC. I'm completely going off his highlight tapes and have nothing more to base this off of. But where's the fun if you don't go out on a limb and make a prediction.

Yeah I mean the injury concerns could be valid with Range. He grey shirted then only has two games worth of juco highlights makes me wonder if he got injured again. I know he's working his way back from injury so he may look even better but between his high school film and that juco one he might have lost some top end speed and explosion. Regardless he's a truck that breaks a lot of tackles so he is more than a welcome addition if it happens.

The two backs out of N. Dakota are the best in the Big Sky(Oliveria and Santiago); and they have a touted FBS transfer from Minnesota so It's not even a debate who the best trio will be next year.
We have a winner.

When Dan Moore and Joey Counts first came to the Griz, they were supposed to tear up the league I remember posters saying. When they were in and healthy, they did just that. Problem was, they couldn't escape the injury bug. I hope this isn't the same case with Range if he indeed does get signed with the Griz...

I'll believe that Range is playing for the Griz once he lines up in the backfield.

Until then, we'd better hope that Green and Mcombs are ready to go, and that Calhoun is healthy. We still need to pick up a back in this recruiting class, and I'd consider Reed or Nevens the best available....but long shots. A drop down wouldn't be a bad thing either.

McCombs I think is going to surprise. He runs hard and tough. He has a good and quick initial cut then gets up field. He's not the biggest guy but he's not afraid of contact. Reminds of a bit of a certain running back from Drummond.

Just a friendly reminder that great running backs somehow become very average behind average offensive lines. I also strongly believe that great offensive lines can make average running backs great! While excited about the prospects of line improvements, I have seen absolutely no evidence this will change.

So I guess you haven't been paying attention to the offensive lineman Stitt and co. have recruited?

Recruits on paper and actual players can be miles apart...when the recruits are actually on the field and owning the line of scrimmage, I will be a believer. Remember we were supposed to see significant improvement in line play last year. Did not appear to be significant to me... I did not see many viable lanes for running backs to gain yardage.

I dont know anything about #1. As for # 2, Its my understanding tha all Non Qualifiers out of high school and 4-2-4 Transfers have to graduate from the JUCO before they can move on. Could simply be a question as to whether or not he has enough credits to graduate and its to early in the semester to be certain if he will graduate

I just watched Ranges' Hudl video! Man, what a powerful runner! Great vision, fast, kicks it outside, patient for the hole to open up...I hope we land him. Reminded me of Lex Hilliard!

Yeah I think that's must be the only hold up he hasn't got his associate degree yet to transfer. In all actuality the hold up might have helped us against the FBS schools.

It just wouldnt be a thread without the eternal pessimism of Kemajic....
