Is what the Missoulian sports section should read in the morning! Doesn't hurt to make an offer, right guys?? wink, wink. OMG don't do that... UNLV and New Mexico might get mad at us...

How do you know Tinkle has not? How do you know if he would he would meet UM entrance requirements?

While currently UNLV and Georgia are his favorites, on a 4-5 star athlete they rarely list all of the low majors who have offered him. He probably has 60-80 offers including every Big Sky school. The thing is you don't know who has been offered. If Tinkle thought he had even the slightest chance with Polee, Tinkle would be on him real good, and for all you or I know he is... or he is not.

From Sports section.com earlier today Polee was listed as one of the top 5 players in California today.

Dwayne Polee Jr., Westchester
Westchester had five future Division I players in their starting lineup this season, but Polee was clearly the best. The City Section's player of the year averaged nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Comets and supplied several highlight-reel dunks in nearly every game he played in. The 6-foot-7 senior is certain to be one of the biggest prizes of the spring recruiting period. UNLV and Georgia are the leading contenders. Wherever he ends up, Polee will always be able to look back fondly on his high school career after leading his team to state Division I titles his junior and senior years.

Two problems with your logic:
1. We probably have already offered him
2. Don't count on the missoulian to report anything til a month or two after it is already happened.

We probably have not offered him as coaches don't waste their time recruiting players they have no chance at signing. Dwayne Polee will never play for the Griz or any other Big Sky school and most likely none have offered him. Come on people let's be serious why would a kid from LA, who can go to bigger schools in LA, Vegas, etc...come to Missoula? He wouldn't.

i agree he'll never play for a big sky team. however, big sky teams offer these kinds of players all the time. i have no direct knowledge of this particular player, but i am very aware at many times that msu and other schools have offered guys they had little to no chance of signing. especially players playing with teammates that we had already signed. trust me, if you have ever seen a list of all the players that a big sky school offered, you'd fall out of your chair laughing because they went on to play at usc, ucla, washington, oregon, utah, lsu, etc. happens all the time...

Well, Slick, I doubt that...I think now that Floyd is the new coach at UTEP, with a guarantee of no repercussions from the NCAA, there might be a strong possibility that Polee ends up there..it would fit his style and his academics and Floyd knows him and his family...in fact, it was Floyd who had him committed to USC.
