Griz: "Not the most athletic bunch..."

He's not wrong on paper, but who ranks montana athletes? Also, is he watching Delaware? Really fast defense that struggled with footing in the snow. TFL's against Delaware would have been much higher on a dry field imo

Is it just me or is furman underestimating the Griz?

"We've played at bigger louder stadiums this year"
"They aren't the most athletic group we've faced"

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but they seem to feel they've already won this game.

At least that gives it a little more context. He wasn't saying the Griz aren't athletic, just that Furman has faced more athletic teams. But still .... a pretty foolish thing to say.

South Carolina probably was, being an FBS team in the SEC, but that has little bearing on how they'll fare in this game.

How would he know they have played in louder stadiums? The SC stadium stands are set way back from the field. Proximity of telling fans is a big component of noise. Even with Roper, they have underestimated noise. I hope SC is more athletic than the Griz, for SC’s sake.

Are you sure he wasn't referring to eGriz?

I don’t know about you, but my 40 is probably a blazing fast sub 7 seconds and my tendons and ligaments make sounds you’ve never heard before. How’s that for athletic!

I can't complete the 40, the sounds scare me too much and I stop!

Watching Sammy's breakdown of the Furman Chatty game, I would say that their offensive tackles are big and have to rely on the "run around a tree" style. Their guards and center do seem to be technically sound, but not special. The QB is okay, I mean he certainly looks good against a mediocre defense. But I think he's going to be surprised tonight. Their defense wasn't really creative either.
I think the Griz would win naturally, but I also think that now we have better coaches who are going to have fun with some of the dumb things they do all the time.

He's a grad student and a military reservist. He knows exactly what he's doing. Just started the shit-talking early. Good luck to him.

Ah, that's cute... A 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Reserve, known as a Butterbar... Morons that think they know everything when the opposite is likely true. As an added bonus, he was ROTC...

Ever been around armed ROTC cadets on a firing range?

No?

Good. Don't change that.

Well I for one am looking forward to the Furman team coming out of the locker room doing handsprings and finishing up with a Mary Lou Retton flourish.

Yep. Ft Benning, GA in 1970. I was a UM Army ROTC Butterbar myself.
Go Army beat Navy tomorrow

Been on a firing range, everyone had a Remington Model 870 and five rounds. Lead Instructor was telling everyone not to load the magazine until he told us to 'Load the Magazine,' then BOOM! Never seen so many goose egg sized eyes in my life. Don't remember his name, we just called him by his new, earned nickname....Boom Boom.

Not a Tommy by any stretch, if Tommy can't turn the corner, against our feet in concrete defense, what are his chances?

Not a Tommy Mellott, or a Gevani McCoy, or a Dante Chachere, or a Miles Hastings…….Griz have faced at the very least four better offenses with better QBs than Furman. I do think Furmans defense is the best overall the Griz will have played.

Ya know the same thing was said against the cats…so…look how that turned out.

Well, I don't know about 1970, but in 1996 they were IDIOTS... Not all of them of course, but a LOT thought the M-16 was a squirt gun or something, the way they flagged their fellow cadets.

But, overall the West Pointers were the worst Officers hands down. The ROTC guys that actually made it to the line companies were much better than the cadets.
