Griz NFL prospects

Hey, what happened to the 15 NFL players that the scouts were drooling over?

There is only 1 player on the Griz that may be able to crack the NFL (Not Lex) and he's not a given. If you think there are any others you don't know much about talent.

only if you paid up your "snyder will kick in a regular nfl season game" bet. did you do that, greenie?

All I ever said about Snyder, starting when he was a soph, was that he was an NFL prospect. AZGriz tried to make a bet, the first of which was that he would never kick in an NFL game. Later he amended it to a regular season game, when he was trying to bet with GGG. Snyder kicked in NFL Europe and pre-season NFL games.

How much do you want to bet on Hilliard and the combines, argh? I'll also bet you on Biermann, and I'll take Biermann.

but Biermann sucks, doesn't he??

Hammer, would you get off that? You are a total broken record, and wrong. I never said that. Your dishonest and PM-altering buddy, AG2, may have altered a PM or something, but I always liked Bierman. Look in the thread in the Smack section. That's exactly what I said and thought of Biermann. Very good player, but as of early to mid season in '06, I still liked Murphy better, and even Dlouhy.

Let's be honest :jack:, admit you said that and we will drop it.

No need for you to lie, we are all friends here.

Um, yeah, that's pretty much my take too. I was laughing at a thread from this fall in which someone said an NFL scout told him the Griz had 15 NFL players on the roster.

That was hilarious.

Who cares if he goes to the combines?

We are talking about making an NFL roster.

I will bet you right now Hilliard doesn't make a roster.

Maybe we could send the money to Chris and he can hold it.......:jack:

AG2: okay, let's bet $500 on whether Hilliard ever makes an NFL roster. We will send the money to Chris. Please confirm.

Here's one of my posts on Biermann from the fall of '06, which you had located and linked yesterday. "Very good" is how I described Biermann

Dlouhy played a great game too. He was the Missoulian's defensive player of the game. Biermann had another good game. I still don't think he's all-world like you do, nor do I think he's better than Murphy or DD, but he's a very good player. I didn't notice Anderson much yesterday, but he's a very good player and having a terrific season. Lebsock had a couple terrific open field tackles yesterday too.

I believe he will make an NFL roster. He has the size and speed, and toughness. His health will be the issue.

He's better than Justin Green and Green is still playing.

Only a guilty person would try as hard as you are to convince people you liked Biermann back before it was cool to do so.

Did anyone see a better PK than Carps in the entire FCS playoff's or the BC/Bowl Season?

I didn't. In fact I saw a lot of them that made me think..."OMG..the Griz have to go back to these kind of odds of making a 37 yd FG any given series?"

the usc guy is clearly better. none of the others appeared to be as good as carpenter.

I'll concede the USC kid...and I did see another kid that was very impressive, but seriously, as a whole...none of them were equal to or greater than Carpenter level of ability.

AG- give me 3 others if you can think of them (team name is fine) because I am not remembering 7 PK's better than Carpenter.

Like I said previously I found myself thinking, I can't believe we will probably be glad to have any one of these other kickers the next several years in the Post Carpenter era.

:crybaby:

If we're just judging these kickers by their bowl/playoff performance then don't we have to judge Carpenter the same way? What was he in the playoffs? 2 out of 3? 1 out of 2? I don't remember.

In the NFL, all the kickers can hit 30 and 40 yarders on a regular basis and have adequate range to hit 50 yarders if they need to. NFL kickers are measured on their clutch kicking ability and Carpenter missed the most important kick of the year. He shouldn't have been put in that situation, but he still missed the kick.

Gocong is way quicker than Biermann, not a good comparison.

1. Jose Martinez - UTEP
2. Austin Starr - Indiana
3. Art Carmody - Louisvile
4. Alexis Serna - Oregon St
5. Thomas Weber - ASU
6. Brandon Coutu - Georgia
7. David Buehler - USC
8. Sam Swank Wake Forest
9. Jeremy Ito - Rutgers
10. Colt David - LSU
11. Taylor Mehlhalff - Wisconsin
12. Alex Trlica - Texas Tech
13. Shane Longest - St Xavier
14. Piotr Czech - Wagner
15. Garrett Hartly - Oklahoma

I bet there are another 10 or 15 that would be ranked higher than DC.

The above players are in no particular order but just a few off the top of my head.

Like I said in this post, there are quite a few kickers that have stronger legs, higher accuracy and more range than DC.

Trlica I think missed quite a few FGs this year. Strong leg though.

He hit the one that counted against Virginia, and he has a hell of a strong leg.

Cold weather drops these guys #'s ...big time.

ALmost no cold weather bowl games

just a reminder to you all in regards to the one kick Carps missed

I believe we do not have one player make an NFL team. While Carp was good he is not NFL good and it it is not his field goal kicking that will hold him back, it is his kickoffs. Lex has no where near the speed to play in the NFL!
