Oh, he got hurt? Hmm . . .

100% positive you could have not withstood the hits he took and been normal.

He has a hairline fracture in his rib. Anyone taking a shot like he did would have broke something.

Alumn, kind of a weird comment don't you think? Last I checked, none of us make 30M so we aren't required to take those kinds of hits on the football field. It's not our job. It is Carson Wentz's job though.

And Chase Reynolds' spot on the 53 is very, very secure, no matter what happened in last night's game.

True, but we are all human beings and most human beings, whether they are a QB in the NFL or not, would have broke a rib on that last hit.

It's a hairline fracture. QB's get them all the time. He would be playing if this was the regular season and he was a starter. To suggest he is injury prone is absolutely ridiculous.

Isn't he a bit injury prone though? Not trying to start anything but he was hurt his senior year of HS which is what led him to FCS and not FBS, and then missed 8 games last season, and now injured on his first legit hit in the NFL. I am not a doctor so I don't know what classifies one as injury prone, but missing significant playing time as a senior in HS and college and now hurt in debut may be close?

I think Wentz did pretty good in his 1st debut, and looked very good for a rookie. Like mtgrizrule said, his receivers dropped a lot of passes that should have been caught. I have a feeling that he's going to be very good for Philadelphia.

I agree, he looks the part of an NFL quarterback. Hopefully he heals up quickly, I'd love to see what he can do.

It isn't going to be pretty if you are an Eagles fan this year. No offensive line and your best playmaker is a middle of the road tight end. Considering the holes they have, they really had no business drafting a QB.
I'm guessing they have a 5-year plan of sorts, and getting a quality QB on the roster was a priority. Hopefully they draft well and can attract some talent to Philly in the coming years.

He has a hairline fracture on a rib, an injury that the vast majority of QB's receive every season and continue to play with. For a QB, it is almost a given considering how often you are exposed to open shots. He is a rookie QB who is essentially redshirting this year, so there is no point in playing and making something worse. Had this been the regular season and he was a starter, this would be a non issue and he would play through it.

So, yes.

Between his sophomore year and junior year of high school, he grew something like 7 inches during the summer and was pitching. Strained his shoulder from throwing too much during the growth spurt. He didn't play QB that year but played football. Has had no shoulder issues since. His senior year he played QB and was the player of the year in ND. A lot of little league kids have what happened to Wentz. I don't think that injury is suggestive that he has issues.

The wrist issue was a freak deal. I played football all of high school and never had a broken bone. I had the same break 6 years ago slipping on the ice and landing back on my wrist. You have to land just perfect to break it. The rib, like I said earlier, is an injury most QBs receive during the year and you play through it. The only reason he isn't playing is because there is no reason to risk anything. Not regular season.

When I think of injury prone, I think of guys who have constant knee issues, shoulder issues etc. I wouldn't put Wentz into that bucket. Like I said had this been regular season, he would be playing and nobody would know anything happened.

If I were an LA fan such as yourself, I would be less concerned with Wentz cracking a rib and more concerned about Goff's performance. By all accounts he has struggled quite a bit this offseason with adjusting to the NFL. He looked completely lost in his debut. I see a lot of Alex Smith in his game.

I didn't read about Goff's injury. What was/is it?

Got hit once was injured and couldn't finish the game. No clue what the injury was but they said his shoulder hurt too much. Took bad sacks and has a bad interception. You had represented in the past you were an LA fan and pulled for LA to take Goff.

You been spending any time watching Griz players this preseason or just taking your obsession with Wentz to the next level?

I don't really watch NFL except for this time of year. I heard that the TopDak kid couldn't make it three quarters without getting hurt (big surprise given his stint in Missoula). I saw that Chase Reynolds scored a TD. I saw Kroy signed a K for Buffalo. I'm not sure to what else my attention was obligated.

I guess I made a mistake. Given that you stated numerous times you wanted LA to draft Goff, I thought you were a big Rams fan. Maybe you are just a big Cal/Goff fan. In any case man he looked bad. Couldn't finish a quarter before he was too sore to finish.

What happened in Missoula? He didn't miss a single snap. In the subsequent game Wentz had 3 TD passes and one rushing TD.

Yeah, didn't really see him play in a meaningful way after he dropped an ankle at WA-GRIZ. Sorry if I'm misremembering. I wonder if he will be in action before Goff.

You are correct.

Did you see that on ESPN? Are they coming back to smoke city for the preseason again or headed somewhere else? I know they like to follow the good teams and the ratings.

He must be the next John Elway, then! Thank goodness we are all here to witness it!

I did see that on ESPN, where people care. He folded.
I think he's a decent QB, but he gets hurt like an seventh-grade gymnast. Nobody can deny that.

Not sure. Why do you care about Goff? Thought you weren't a Rams/NFL? Are you just comparing him to Goff based on your profound hatred for NDSU? Understandingly so. I mean I would have a lot of frustrations watching say Chadron State rise from D2, become a significantly better program, more than double the amount of championships NDSU has won, start hosting ESPN Gameday, produce a 1st round QB pick etc etc while lying in lowely Chadron Nebraska and having a stadium not nearly at NDSU's level. Shit I would maybe try to find comfort via constantly posting on an Internet fan forum trying to tear down anything associated with Chadron State in order to make myself feel good about the state of the program I care about. That would really show them.

Is a regular season non conference home win (in the month of August) against another FCS opponent the most impressive thing the Griz football program had accomplished in recent memory? I mean seriously that is all you talk about. Fuck man they don't hang banners for that. I thought the Griz were supposed to be a powerhouse team in the FCS. Teams with expectations tend not to focus on August wins.

The games in December are the ones they remember.

Uhh you play it off like it wasn't a big deal that the defending 4x champs got beat by a new coach/new qb from a mediocre team. Also it's not even close to the most impressive thing in griz football. I can think of at least 5 more impressive things in the last 10 years. You yourself claim that the games in december are the ones that matter and the griz have quite a few good ones. Sure you guys are the greatest fcs team ever but gtfo with your arrogance. Fact is that Wentz is a decent qb, definitely over-rated at the #2 pick, and CDA is right... he got hurt. Stop making excuses for him. After a while he is just prone to getting hurt.

Ya I didn't like seeing NDSU get beat. They have lost to other mediocre teams during the last 5 years (USD in 2015 and Indiana State in 2012). I just can not remember an NDSU fan constantly talking about a regular season win against another FCS team like you guys do.

Are all QB's injury prone? Dam near every QB will break a rib at some point.

It’s because most Griz fans are desperate for any indication that the program is back to where it used to be. That is why some are so obsessed with that win (and Carson Wentz).

It’s also why we have so many cute and witty posters on this board. They’ve mastered message board banter instead of being able to trash talk about what actually happened on the field.
