GRIZ/NAU game thread

Great game on both ends by the GRIZ, Great bench play. Great shooting. Great inside play. Now lets go get UNC, then win the BSC championship. Some egrizzers need to eat some crow!

I would love to eat crow!! But I'm still not sold on Tinks being able to close the deal. If the Griz do win the tourney I will be happy to eat a crow/shit sandwich and admit I was wrong. But as inconsistant as the Griz are under Tinkle I wouln't get too excited yet.

They've been pretty consistent this year. Only lost consecutive games once. They don't match up well with the Cats' style of play, and Qvale had strep throat the second game which threw the team chemistry out the window. @EWU, the Eagles happened to sink 12 of 19 3-pointers. There's nothing they could have done to stop that. They had an off game @ISU and lost on a last second miracle score (which almost happened to the football team this year.)

I've caught pretty much every game this year, for the first time, and I can say with confidence that this team is nothing like Tinkle's first 3 seasons. They've could have EASILY won 25 games this year including a win over a top 15 ranked team. The season isn't over yet, but if it was, I'd be happy with the direction of the program, with the young talent on the roster and coming in, with a coach that I don't think is using UM as a stepping stone.

Raason finally had a great game, that was great to see. Griz are awesome when they play as a team and play with some intensity.

How about the tomahawk by Banny at the end!? That was sick!

And what was that by AJ? A walk-off three?!

Both pretty sweet!

Gotta agree, that was a thing of beauty. What an exclamation point on the game!

just tuned in, saw the score and thought the Griz must be playing before an excited and loud crowd...then the announcer announces 2600+ in attendance and while the camera swept the crowd, I was amazed that everyone there appeared to be in a stupor....I must have missed some hot action cause that crowd most certainly was the least energenic bunch I have seen.....I think
weber fans will be more lively.....I hope the Griz can play the game that they are able....
I was there and as far as I know, not in a stupor (at least no more than usual ;) .) Actually, it was a pretty involved and appreciative crowd. It was was very loud when Tinks took the seniors out at the end of the game. The final Banny slam off of a nice pass by Cherry, and seeing Cherry's smile after Banny slammed it was worth the price of a ticket. You have to remember that no season ticket sales numbers (whether the ticket holder is there or not) went into this crowd count. Making judgments about crowd enthusiasm while watching on tv is probably not a good idea. :thumb:
generally, I would agree, however, when the camera sweeps over entire areas where people are just sitting, not even talking, well...it was kinda surreal...since I missed the first half, I assume it was loud..but I have never seen a home game where the crowd showed such a lack of enthusiasm....glad it picked up at the end....

I agree...that is why it is such a frustrating season....but, 20 wins with the possibility of more says a lot for the coach and players...lots of teams wish they could show 20 wins....next year will be even better....next week could be a surprise....Nice season...

Enthusiasm? The paltry crowd saved its energy for Boise's National Champion Jumper Roping team - which was really pretty entertaining - and Banny's game punctuating slam. These are definately not the 60's and 70's with 9,500 in a full-sized Adams Center. However, I must say to Tinkle's credit, he has brought in some genuine athleticism. They played lights out last night and with an intensity I haven't seen in a while. Johnson and Cherry really run the floor well and given time Cherry can make a living at the free throw line. While others see improvement in Quale I still see him as an awfully slow pivot with not particularly sound hand or foot work. If he goes to Europe it will be on his own dime...Still the Griz could make some noise in Ogden. They don't lose much with the guys coming off the bench.
