GRIZ/MT Western game thread

I can understand not getting Offensive rebounds on our end, but letting them get so many on their end is unforgiveable. Get a body on someone!

For a small school, Western has some kids that love basketball. Mostly Montana kids, a lot of them small towns, Dillon, Wolfe Point, Cardwell, Huntley Project, Victor ...

I don't see why Andy and Hutch aren't being "forged" into center positions here.

Maybe because Tinkle knows that may be a losing proposition this year and wants to see what kind of lineups he go with if the center position is not an option.

Western would beat the lower 1/3 of our conference.

Which, as I type it, makes we want even more to get the f^ck out of our conference....

"People are going to look at the score, 88-73, and say it was a blow-out. It was far, far from that."

Tinks:

Talking about lack of focus. Says even coming out of TO's the team didn't do what they want. Said they had a Come to Jesus meeting after the game, so he was late coming out (an assistant was with Mick for the first 7 or 8 minutes).

GFeller needs to shoot. Keep telling him, "don't doubt yourself".

Our guys were on Christmas break a little early. We got out rebounded again. We gave up 4 buckets on inbounds plays. We didn't play enough D.

Merry Christmas to all Griz Nation.

Gfeller is coming up big down the stretch. That last three gave the Griz a little bit of breathing room here.
He started slow but got it cranking. His footwork on the full court press is amazing to watch.

No hutch tonight

But doubt if his presence would have won the rebounding battle

Conference wins will be scarce if we don't board

A win is a win.....

Not real inspiring to hear Western gave the Griz such a hard time. The Dawgs have been a great program the last couple of seasons, and were picked to win the Frontier this year, after winning a game at the NAIA national tourney a year ago. However, the Dawgs are currently 6-4 in counter games, including a home loss to CIS Lethbridge University, as well as a loss to un-ranked Westminster in their Frontier opener. Western may have looked solid against the Griz, but my prediction is, that's saying more about how Griz played them tonight, as I think Western will have a hard time winning the Frontier this season. Northern and UGF both trashed the Lethbridge squad that UM-W lost to, and Rocky has risen to No. 10 in the NAIA. The Bulldogs have fallen well out of the NAIA Top 25, and Keller has not been happy about how his team has played in the non-conference season. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dawgs get it going, they're always tough at home, but I also would not be surprised to see them finish behind Rocky, Northern, UGF and LC State at season's end.

Keron had a nice game tonight, 17 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. 14 of his pts came in the second half. I believe both he and Kareem played the entire second half.
