That second half definitely help my mood. Way better ball on both ends of the floor.

Two solid games in a row from Jordan Wood. I know he is not the long ranger bomber we all hoped he would be, but he is very solid everywhere else. I still think he will be huge for our consistency problems.

Ward tore it up tonight, but I am with the rest of you on Reader. I am not sure why he isn't playing more.

Nevada will be another real deal team coming into our house. It will be interesting to see how we play. Hopefully we play like I believe we can play and take it to those guys.

Ward tore it up over that true freshman from Florence. Can only imagine how far the Nevada big guys will swat his little layups away after he dribbles once every time and then goes up.

Selvig...2 points woo hoo.

Wood had a great game outside of the three passes to no one (out of bounds) in about a 2 minute span.

And good to see our 4 seniors get such valuable experience against the prior mentioned Florence true frosh, another kid (Paine) from Billings Senior, Cole Conway of Butte......Tech seemed to have 3 or 4 Montana kids that outplayed our one in this game.

One of the worst home Griz games I've seen in 25+ years.

But...it's basketball and these kinds of odd games happen.

Jordan had a good game but still is reluctant to shoot from the outside, and understandably so. He played well defensively, but was very sloppy with some passes and had at least three turnovers because of this. I fail to understand why Stockton still is playing. He did nothing again tonight. His time is coming at the expense of our young guards and I don't understand why TInks continues to play him. Whenever he is on the floor, he is the slowest guard out there, even against NAIA teams. Ward did feast inside. However, against D1 opponents, it is going to be a heckuva lot harder as it has been for him against good opposition.

I posted that just after half when all the Griz bigs were looking like crap. Then Ward went nutso, on an abnormal roll against a powerful freshman for NAIA Montana Tech....pretty darn impressive.

He wasn't just guarded by a frosh. There were other defenders. Tech played some zone. Why do some of you want to minimize what was done by Ward. The Mouse guy looks like he/she is not a Griz fan, but what's up with you? After seeing some of your football posts, I suppose we should expect dumb comments.

Did you watch the game, or are you just making up stuff? Woods through 2 passes away on breaks, not 3. Had 2 turnovers in the game. The Florence true frosh is a good player. I see that he made the all-tourney recently.

Where was I being "excited" about Ward's performance? I said no such thing. I was defending his performance from your being negative about UM post play and your trying to minimalize his performance. You negative types are nauseating, in my view. That bottom feeder NAIA team was 6-1 coming into last night's game, and has two more exhibition wins. Tech is a pretty good team. Does it make you feel better to tear down other teams, and other Montana teams, by calling them "bottom feeders"? Why can't you be objective, instead of being so negative? You weren't even at the game.

Two where he had chance to take to hole hard but threw behind Cherry or Steward and out of bounds.The third one he threw to our bench and over Stockton's (I believe) head. Today's paper says Tech is 4 - 4 but I can't say I know more than that.

I'm really not here to bash the Griz and have watched them passionately since 1978....but let's not spin this game as anything but ugly for the Griz nor that Tech is a good team. We got our first lead of the game 29 minutes in???

I hope the FB team stayed away from this one.

I didn't even comment on the game, so don't accuse me of spinning anything about the game. You are the one who needs to be more objective. I see no reason for you or anyone to pooh pooh Ward's 22 points. I see no reason for you to try to undercut his performance. He didn't score all of those points against one guy. In fact, there was a taller post player than the one you mentioned, also playing for Tech. He's the one who got the opening tip.

Like most I agree that Ward's big night means little unless he can produce against D1 Centers, which he has yet to prove. He is only 6'7". With Selvig outside, Ward will have to face most team's Centers, and will have to score most of his points away from the basket. No more gimme layups. He's never been a great rebounder and commits a ton of fouls (9 in the last 2 games), so I am not too excited by dominating an undersized NAIA frosh. I think we'll see more of Reader as the season progresses. Hutch seems to be in Tink's dog-house ever since getting a technical foul a few games back. Steward has been posting up. Post-offense is not gonna be this team's strength.

Jordan Wood's potential 3rd turnover was a low throw to Cherry on a break. Will tried to go up with it before catching it. Although it was a poor throw, since Will got 2 hands on the ball, Will probably got the TO.

I know selvig isnt playing well, am not saying he is. Quite frankly outside of rebounding he is playing terrible, but if your the "oblectivity" expert, how can you watch selvig play and not see he has a huge amount talent?

Not a traditional BIG, but moves extremely well, long, disrupts passing lanes, can shoot the ball(i know he hasnt shot well this year), passes well when he doesnt overthink things.

He is capable of scoring inside and going to the rim "HARD", when put in the right position, and is quick and decisive. Which is one of the keys to scoring down low. Unfortunately he is not those things near enough, but IS capable. I think we will see a much better player as the season goes on and late into conference.

And on another tangent, tinks needs to get his rotation figured out. as in a couple games ago. play henderson, reader, deshields more, shoulda redshirted gregory.

i remain baffled why we so nonchalantly burn up redshirt years for players with potential. it's clear now that neither henderson nor gregory is going to get significant minutes this year, so why trade a wasted year for what might be a great year from each player four years down the road? did the same thing essentially with qvale. how great would he be this year verus that lost true freshman year? seems to me one key to success at a mid-major like montana is to stockpile talent a bit, so you're getting seasoned fifth-year players in the mix, rather than wasting years as we seem to be doing--again--with gregory and henderson.

Sorry dude, you are living in a dream world if you think Selvig is anything but a spot-up 3-point shooter. Give me break! This kid is a senior, not a young player learning to play at this level. He is NOT capable, even though so many of you think he will emerge at any time! Face the facts. I have not even seen a game this year, but I don't have to, because I already know his limitations from last year.
