Griz more likely to root for Cats

It's kind of like rooting for the little kid that never gets in the game and then finally does with about 5 seconds left. You know he's not gonna do anything, but it's kind of a special moment for him and everyone feels good inside.

I can remember cheering for the Cats once. Back in 2011 after the Griz had put a beatdown on UNI in the quarterfinals, setting up a potential semifinal matchup with the Cats (who the Griz had just steamrolled in Bozo a few weeks earlier). Would've meant a home semifinal game for the Griz, but instead the Cats choked and got hammered by Sam Houston St. and the Griz got sent on the road and just barely came up short of another epic comeback. Thanks for nothin, Cats.

I remember the whole north end zone chanting "We Want the Cats!" as everyone was clearing out.

Well, technically, we got the Cats. Just the wrong breed of cat....

There's no rivalry. When MSU basically pulls out a single 3 point squeaker once every decade while getting pounded every time else, that's not competitiveness. That's the Cats version of finally getting lucky.

If MSU was playing the #1 team in the nation (from a different conference), I would root for the Cats. Mostly because it would make the conference and thus the Griz, look better, and that's all I care about. Also, I'm not threatened by the Cats. Even with a win over the #1, they would still end up losing to the Griz at season's end.
